The Movement: 警告 調印するs 現れる for MAGA populism over ObamaCare
The Movement is a 週刊誌 newsletter 跡をつけるing the 影響(力) and 審議s steering politics on the 権利. 調印する up here or in the box below.
共和国の/共和党のs in 議会 are on a path to letting 高めるd ObamaCare 補助金s 満了する/死ぬ at the end of the year, a result that could 量 to a 解雇/(訴訟の)却下 ― or, depending on your 視野, a betrayal ― of the MAGA populism that was ascendant in the party.
Rather than 注意する 警告s from MAGA commentators and Trump 世論調査員s that letting the 補助金s 満了する/死ぬ without any 代案/選択肢 計画(する) would (一定の)期間 災害 for the party in the 2026 midterms, a sizeable chunk of 共和国の/共和党のs in 議会 seem to be driven more by 観念的な 対立 to the big spending on the 補助金s and to the Affordable Care 行為/法令/行動する (ACA) in general.
A few House 共和国の/共和党のs I’ve spoken to 個人として say they don’t think the 補助金s will be 延長するd ― leaving the GOP to take a 賭事 in the midterm 選挙s where 民主党員s are waiting to 告発する/非難する 共和国の/共和党のs of betraying their 投票者s on affordability, since the 満期 will mean 増加するs in health care 賞与金s.
That dynamic is raising alarm bells for those 利益/興味d in 持つ/拘留するing together the MAGA 連合 and the influx of working-class 投票者s into the party.
Matt Boyle, the Washington bureau 長,指導者 for Breitbart News who is very 井戸/弁護士席 connected の中で 上級の Trump 行政 公式の/役人s, has been 声の about calling for a medium- or longer-称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 拡張 of the health care 補助金s to take the 問題/発行する away from 民主党員s in the 2026 midterms and 2028 大統領の 選挙.
“If the 共和国の/共和党のs do this 権利 or even の近くに to 権利 I think they can take health care away from the 民主党員s as a political 問題/発行する,” Boyle said. He pointed the finger at GOP leaders from 大統領 Trump’s first 称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 who 拒絶する/低下するd to 廃止する and 取って代わる ObamaCare in 2017, calling an 拡張 of the 補助金s a “導管 tape 解答 to Barack Obama’s Unaffordable Care 行為/法令/行動する.”
“They 持つ/拘留する it together with some 導管 tape until such time as the real America first leaders who have 取って代わるd the loser globalists like [former GOP (衆議院の)議長] Paul Ryan take over and 現実に come up with real 計画(する)s about this,” Boyle said.
A July 投票ing 覚え書き from Trump (選挙などの)運動をする 世論調査員s Tony Fabrizio and (頭が)ひょいと動く 区 設立する 投票者 support in 競争の激しい House 地区s for the generic 共和国の/共和党の 候補者 would 噴火口,クレーター from a 3-point 赤字 to a 15-point 赤字 if the 補助金s aren’t 延長するd.
投票ing from the health care 政策 nonprofit KFF 解放(する)d last week 設立する that 72 パーセント of 共和国の/共和党のs 入会させるd in ObamaCare 計画(する)s support 延長するing the 高めるd 補助金s. A previous KFF 報告(する)/憶測 設立する that in some of the most 競争の激しい congressional 地区s, those on marketplace 計画(する)s could be enough to swing a の近くに 選挙: “In the 10 most 競争の激しい 地区s in the last 選挙, the 利ざや of victory was より小数の than 6,000 投票(する)s. There are at least 27,000 ACA Marketplace enrollees in each of these 地区s.”
And in a reflection of how MAGA and 穏健なs could come together on the 問題/発行する, Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) ― a MAGA favorite in the 上院 ― teamed up with 穏健な appropriator Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) on a 計画(する) to 延長する the 高めるd 税金 credits for two years, with 改革(する)s like income caps and an 排除/予選 of 無-賞与金 計画(する)s.
But 共和国の/共和党のs …に反対するd to the 補助金s 強調する/ストレス that they never supported the COVID-時代 補助金 enhancements, which were 調印するd into 法律 by former 大統領 Biden, and even 共和国の/共和党のs who are open to 拡張s say they would need 相当な 改革(する)s. Others, as I wrote in last week’s 版 of The Movement, won’t 受託する any 拡張 that fails to 追加する 禁止s on 計画(する)s that cover abortions.
More in Politics
While さまざまな groups of 穏健なs are working on 妥協 計画(する)s to 延長する the 補助金s with 改革(する)s like income caps, House GOP leaders have said they’re working on 解放(する)ing an 補欠/交替の/交替する health care 計画(する) that may not 延長する the 補助金s at all, and their messaging 中心s on ObamaCare 存在 broken and trying to put the 非難する on 民主党員s for high health care 賞与金s.
Fabrizio spoke to House 共和国の/共和党のs in the 共和国の/共和党の 熟考する/考慮する 委員会, the largest 保守的な (政党の)幹部会,党集会 in the House, whose members 一般に …に反対する 延長するing the 補助金s, last week. Rather than 焦点(を合わせる) on the 補助金s, though, he placed a lot of 焦点(を合わせる) on Trump’s moves to 減ずる 麻薬 prices. A GOP 補佐官 said Fabrizio 現在のd new 投票ing showing that Americans were more likely to 投票(する) for a 候補者 who 減ずるd 麻薬 prices than a 候補者 who 延長するd ObamaCare 補助金s ― another way to 演説(する)/住所 投票者 関心s about affordability.
MAGA World 操作者s have 個人として 表明するd 関心 that 共和国の/共和党のs seem to be 承認する with not 延長するing the 補助金s and taking a 賭事 in the midterm 選挙s, and that 共和国の/共和党のs won’t 決起大会/結集させる around a GOP 計画(する) unless Trump 押し進めるs them to do so. An ObamaCare 補助金 満期 would come on 最高の,を越す of 共和国の/共和党のs 器具/実施するing 改革(する)s to Medicaid in the One Big Beautiful 法案 行為/法令/行動する, though those 改革(する)s won’t start until after the midterms.
Ahead of Thanksgiving, a White House 提案 to 延長する the 補助金s for two years 漏れるd in news 報告(する)/憶測s. But the 行政 支援するd off 解放(する)ing any 計画(する) after (衆議院の)議長 マイク Johnson (R-La.) 警告を与えるd the 大統領,/社長’s 助言者s that most House 共和国の/共和党のs don’t want to 延長する the 補助金s, The 塀で囲む Street 定期刊行物 報告(する)/憶測d.
For now, Trump is letting 議会 take the lead. He said last week that “ObamaCare is horrible health care” and 表明するd support for sending money 直接/まっすぐに to people to “buy their own health care” rather than 補助金を支給するing 保険 companies, which some 共和国の/共和党のs have 目的(とする)d to turn into 法律を制定する 計画(する)s 上げるing health 貯金 account-like programs.
But while the hour is late, there could still be time for Trump to 開始する a last-minute 押し進める.
“I think that whatever 大統領 Trump decides will be what 議会 does,” Boyle said.

MEASURING THE FACTIONS IN THE GOP
The Manhattan 学校/設ける 行為/行うd a fascinating 調査する 目的(とする)d at defining the 態度s and 派閥s that (不足などを)補う the 現在の 共和国の/共和党の 連合.
Of the “現在の GOP” ― which it defines as all 2024 Trump 投票者s 関わりなく party 登録, 加える 登録(する)d 共和国の/共和党のs who didn’t 投票(する) for Trump ― about 65 パーセント are “核心 共和国の/共和党のs” who have 終始一貫して 支援するd GOP 大統領の 候補者s since at least 2016, and 29 パーセント are 最近の first-time GOP 投票者s, dubbed the “New Entrant GOP.”
< p class="mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words">The New Entrant GOP is いっそう少なく 保守的な on 政策.They’re more supportive of 課税 over spending 削減(する)s: 48 パーセント said people in the middle-to-高額所得層s should 支払う/賃金 higher 税金s, while 47 パーセント said nobody should 支払う/賃金 higher 税金s and the 政府 should 削減(する) spending. の中で the 現在の GOP, just 30 パーセント support higher 税金s, and 63 パーセント …に反対する higher 税金s and support spending 削減(する)s.
They’re more open to 多様制, 公正,普通株主権, and 傾向 (DEI) programs: New Entrants were 分裂(する), with 45 パーセント 説 DEI should be 違法な and 46 パーセント 説 the programs were necessary 治療(薬)s to historic 人種差別主義 and 圧迫. The whole 現在の GOP had 59 パーセント 説 DEI should be 違法な.
They’re more open to 医療の and surgical 介入s for transgender minors: New Entrants were again 分裂(する), with 49 パーセント supporting gender-断言するing care for minors, while 45 パーセント said gender-断言するing care for minors should not be 許すd. That is far いっそう少なく 保守的な than the 現在の GOP, 72 パーセント of which …に反対するd 医療の and surgical 移行ing for minors, with just 22 パーセント 説 it should be 許すd.
On 寛容 for 人種差別主義 and antisemitism in the party and political movement…
Fifteen パーセント of the 現在の GOP identified as 持つ/拘留するing 人種差別主義者 見解(をとる)s, and 12 パーセント identified as 持つ/拘留するing antisemitic 見解(をとる)s. Younger 世代s are more 率直に p rejudiced: For those younger than 50 years old, 31 パーセント said they 持つ/拘留する 人種差別主義者 見解(をとる)s and 25 パーセント held antisemitic 見解(をとる)s. Newcomers to the party are more likely to self-identify as 人種差別主義者, with 32 パーセント of New Entrants 説 they 持つ/拘留する 人種差別主義者 見解(をとる)s, compared with 8 パーセント of 核心 共和国の/共和党のs.
The 現在の GOP 連合 is more 敵意を持った to antisemitism than to 人種差別主義者 見解(をとる)s, with 48 パーセント 説 those with antisemitic 見解(をとる)s “aren’t welcome and don’t 代表する what I stand for,” compared with 36 パーセント for 人種差別主義者 見解(をとる)s.
What does this mean for the GOP 連合 in 2026 and 2028?
“The durability of the 拡大するd 共和国の/共和党の 連合 is uncertain ― 特に when it comes to its newest members,” the Manhattan 学校/設ける’s 足緒 Arm and Matthew 膝 令状.
“When asked how they would 投票(する) if a congressional 選挙 were held today, only 56% of New Entrant 共和国の/共和党のs said they would definitely 投票(する) 共和国の/共和党の again, and 28% said they probably would. Under-50 共和国の/共和党のs show 類似の softness: just 59% say they would definitely 投票(する) GOP in a House race, and one in ten say they would 投票(する) for a 民主党員.”

QATAR QUESTION SPLITS MAGA
A new litmus 実験(する) is splitting the MAGA 連合: Is Qatar an important U.S. 同盟(する) in the 複雑にするd Middle East 地域, or a terror-sponsoring enemy that should be shunned?
The 湾 country is home to the U.S. Al Udeid 空気/公表する Base and was instrumental in helping 大統領 Trump 安全な・保証する a 停戦 取引,協定 between イスラエル and Hamas. But to provocateur Laura Loomer, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), 示す Levin and other プロの/賛成の-イスラエル 保守的なs on the 権利, Qatar is a 支持者 of Islamic テロ行為 and the イスラム教徒 Brotherhood.
The 不和 泡d up when a group of MAGA influencers started 地位,任命するing about their Thanksgiving trips to Qatar, perusing restaurants and the 決まり文句/製法 1 Qatar Grand Prix, and getting a wave of 批評 from Loomer in return. (Will Sommer has a 一斉検挙 in The 防御壁/支持者.)
And that 批評 only 増加するd after a slew of 全世界の 力/強力にする players descended on Doha, Qatar, over the 週末 for the Doha 会議 ― 含むing not only 法案 Gates and Hillary Clinton, but also Donald Trump Jr., Tucker Carlson, and Trump 助言者 Alex Bruesewitz.
Cruz 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる)d a slew of questions for Carlson to ask Qatar’s 首相, Sheikh Mohammed 貯蔵所 Abdulrahman Al Thani, in an on-行う/開催する/段階 interview about Qatar’s 申し立てられた/疑わしい affiliations with テロリストs and whether it was 支払う/賃金ing influencers to …に出席する the Doha 会議.
Carlson started off his interview with the 首相 asking about whether Qatar 財政/金融d terror and hosted Hamas, 言及/関連ing Cruz ― to which the 首相 replied that all of his country’s 援助(する) to Gaza was 配達するd with the 認識/意識性 of イスラエル and the U.S., 説 there is “no basis” to (人命などを)奪う,主張するs that Qatar was 財政/金融ing Hamas. By the end of the interview, Carlson said he was buying a home in Qatar in 反抗 of critics who 告発する/非難する him ― 誤って, he said ― of taking money from Qatar.
An infuriated Loomer 地位,任命するd: “The whole point of Doha 会議 is to 標準的にする/正常にする テロリストs through 財政上の 贈収賄 and unregistered foreign ロビーing so that Qatar can start 土台を崩すing US 外交政策 and mainstream Hamas and the イスラム教徒 Brotherhood around the world …. The Trump 行政 needs to get the Qatar problem under 支配(する)/統制する. It’s wildly 不適切な for Qatar to have this much 影響(力) over US politics.”

THREE MORE THINGS
Nick Fuentes joined Piers Morgan’s show on Monday, where the British host took a starkly different approach from that of Tucker Carlson in October. Morgan 直面するd Fuentes about some of his most incendiary past 声明s. 答える/応じるing to a clip of himself 説 “Jews are running society. Women need to shut the f― up. 黒人/ボイコットs need to be in 刑務所,拘置所 for the most part. And we would live in 楽園,” Fuentes said that was “100 パーセント true.” He agreed he is a 人種差別主義者. He 再確認するd that he thinks Hitler is “really f―ing 冷静な/正味の” ― “And I’m tired of pretending he’s not, to be honest.” In a 転換 from his previous 尋問 of how many ユダヤ人の people were killed in the 大破壊/大虐殺, Fuentes seemed to agree that at least 6 million Jews were killed, but took 問題/発行する with 法律s in other countries that criminalize 尋問 that number.
(衆議院の)議長 マイク Johnson (R-La.) got plenty of heat last week from 失望させるd members of the House GOP last week, with Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) most 顕著に 主張するing that he would not 勝利,勝つ the Speakership today. But don’t 推定する/予想する any 議長,司会を務める-vacating moves: Even Johnson’s biggest GOP critics and antagonists in the House tell me he is 安全な, for now. “He’s going to be (衆議院の)議長 until 大統領 Trump doesn’t want him to be (衆議院の)議長,” said Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.).
副大統領 Vance said in an interview with NBC News that he does not see antisemitism as a rising problem on the 権利: “裁判官ing anybody based on their 肌 color or immutable 特徴, I think, is fundamentally anti-American and anti-Christian,” Vance said. “I do think it’s important to call this stuff out when I see it. I also, when I talk to young 保守的なs, I don’t see some simmering antisemitism that’s 爆発するing.”
“Do I think that the 共和国の/共和党の Party is 大幅に more antisemitic than it was 10 or 15 years ago? 絶対 not,” Vance said. “In any bunch of apples, you have bad people. But my 態度 on this is we should be 会社/堅い in 説 antisemitism and 人種差別主義 is wrong. … I think it’s 肉親,親類d of slanderous to say that the 共和国の/共和党の Party, the 保守的な movement, is 極端に antisemitic.”
