Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra review: My 床に打ち倒すs are clean, but my bank account is empty
I can't 正当化する the sky-high price of the S8 given how problematic it is in a few important areas
床に打ち倒す chores are a bore. I don't mind making the bed and doing laundry, but vacuuming and mopping? Help 手配中の，お尋ね者! I'd love to put that hour or two per week 支援する in the 解放する／自由な-time column (assuming I 現実に spent that time vacuuming and mopping, which, let's be honest...). The Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra is not only the most polysyllabic robot on the market, it's also one of the most expensive ― which means you're going to have to give real thought about whether it's 価値（がある） it. Indeed, there are other robo-butlers that do the 職業 pretty 井戸／弁護士席 for いっそう少なく, most 顕著に the Narwal Freo X Ultra. Think on that while you read my Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra review.

VERDICT: It's 広大な／多数の／重要な at vacuuming and good at mopping, but at this price it should have a better 地図／計画する editor and be able to 避ける something as simple ― and ありふれた ― as an 拡張 cord.

Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra: 体制／機構 and design
This is the third Roborock vacuum I've 実験（する）d; an S5 (vacuum only) and S7 MaxV (vacuum/mop combo) were used long-称する，呼ぶ／期間／用語 in my home and 証明するd to be reliable, 効果的な きれいにする machines (though not perfect; they occasionally managed to get stuck on cords and low-slung furni ture). They were also かなり いっそう少なく expensive than the S8 MaxV Ultra ― but, in fairness, いっそう少なく 有能な 同様に.
In any 事例／患者, I was already familiar with basic Roborock 体制／機構 and 操作／手術, 特に with regard to the companion app. But you're probably not, and that's okay: There's a 詳細（に述べる）d quick-start poster to get you started and a text-激しい but informative printed 指示／教授／教育 guide to walk you through everything else. This is about as novice-friendly as these things get.
Like most of these 賞与金 cleaners, the S8 lives inside a ドッキングする／減らす／ドックに入れる that's home to dirty- and clean-water 戦車／タンクs and a dustbin. There are 黒人／ボイコット and white 見解／翻訳／版s 利用できる; I 実験（する）d the former but prefer the more kitchen-friendly look of the latter. Even then, from a 純粋に aesthetic 見地, the whole thing is a little plasticky, a little meh. Anyone with an 注目する，もくろむ for design might prefer the glossy white curves of the aforementioned Narwal Freo or 同時代の look of the iRobot Roomba Combo j9+.
Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra: Chock 十分な o' features
True to its price tag, the S8 packs in a wealth of きれいにする features. The 重要な ones 含む not only 広範囲にわたる, vacuuming and mopping, but also self-きれいにする: the dustbin gets emptied into the ドッキングする／減らす／ドックに入れる after each cycle, while the mop pad gets washed (with hot water) before and after ― then heat-乾燥した，日照りのd 同様に. That means the only real 介入 要求するd on your part is occasionally 追加するing/emptying water and 取って代わるing the 破片 捕らえる、獲得する. How often you'll need to do that depends on how often you run the robot and how large a space it has to clean.
Speaking of 介入, Roborock says that its 障害-承認 system can （悪事，秘密などを）発見する up to 73 反対するs ― meaning you shouldn't have to declutt er before きれいにする. Sure enough, in my 実験（する）s it deftly steered around furniture, 着せる／賦与するs and a bunch of the grandkid's toys. But it rolled 権利 over an 拡張 cord! I've seen this a lot; I'm not sure why so many robot vacuums struggle with things like cords and shoelaces. For $1,800, Roborock should have 増加するd the 障害 count to 74.
Another 問題／発行する that's ありふれた to these machines is mop pads dragging over carpet. Many models can automatically raise their pads, but often by only 10-12mm ― not enough for medium-pile carpet, let alone the really plush stuff. The S8's pad can raise a 十分な 20mm, the highest I've seen (except for the Roomba Combo j9+, which swings its mop all the way up to the 最高の，を越す of the 'bot). That's 効果的な at 避けるing pad-drag, at least on my carpets.
For vacuum 目的s, the S8 雇うs a 選び出す／独身 spinning 小衝突 that helps sweep dirt and 破片 into the path of its 二重の rubber rollers, which are served by 10,000 Pa (pascals) of suction 力／強力にする. That's very high; the Narwal Freo X 最高の，を越すs out at 8,200 Pa. But does this 測定 tell the whole suction story? There's some 審議 over this; Dyson and iRobot, for their part, don't use those "部隊s of 圧力" in their 製品 descriptions, 正確に because they feel there are other factors that 影響する／感情 vacuum prowess.
Because there's a camera built into the 前線 of the robot, you can 見解（をとる） きれいにする 進歩 in real-time or even use it as a sort of poor-man's 安全 camera. (See any feet you don't 認める? Call the police!) Worried about your dog or cat? The S8 can also 成し遂げる a "pet check," 捜し出すing out your fur baby (assuming it's at 床に打ち倒す level and not up on a piece of furniture, out of camera 見解（をとる）). For those 関心d about privacy, the camera is 無能にするd by default and 要求するs several steps to 活動させる／戦時編成する.
And for those who like to take a Jetsons-style approach t o 家事, the robot supports a wide variety of 発言する／表明する 命令（する）s (so many, in fact, that Roborock 供給（する）s a 倍のing テント card 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）ing all the phrases). You can say things like, "Hello, Rocky, start きれいにする," or, "Hello, Rocky, mop harder." I 高く評価する／（相場などが）上がる a 献身的な 命令（する） system that doesn't 要求する linking with Alexa, Google Assistant or the like.
Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra: How 井戸／弁護士席 does it clean?
The S8 vacuums 極端に 井戸／弁護士席 and mops ― 井戸／弁護士席, I'll come 支援する to that. After a きれいにする cycle, I typically find 無 破片 on my hard 床に打ち倒すs, and my carpets show the telltale "vacuum lines" 示すing some pretty strong suction.
As for mopping, it 証明するd 静かな 効果的な in "open" areas but struggled to reach under kitchen 閣僚s. This にもかかわらず the presence of a little spinning 小衝突 designed to better clean along 辛勝する／優位s. The problem is it doesn't 延長する very far, and the S8 itself doesn't seem to like to squeeze under those 閣僚 overhangs. Indeed, it 繰り返して 行方不明になるd a 位置／汚点／見つけ出す of 流出／こぼすd coffee that was in a corner; neither the mop pad nor 小衝突 could reach it. (To be fair, such corners 提起する／ポーズをとる a problem for a lot of these machines.)
On the whole I've 設立する that spinning 小衝突s (like on the Narwal) outperform pads at きれいにする hard 床に打ち倒すs, but the S8 does vibrate its mop to help with sticky areas and other 位置／汚点／見つけ出すs 要求するing "肘 grease". Onboard sensors can （悪事，秘密などを）発見する if a 床に打ち倒す is 特に dirty in one area and return to it for extra attention.
I was also pleased to discover that it could do a 十分な きれいにする of my main 床に打ち倒す without needing to revisit the ドッキングする／減らす／ドックに入れる to recharge its 殴打／砲列. Again, this can 変化させる a lot depending on the size of the space and the 量 of きれいにする 要求するd, but a few other robots I've 実験（する）d in my home can't do a 十分な sweep and mop on a 選び出す／独身 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金. And speaking of which, there's an admirably smart 選択 利用できる here: The machine can do its recharging during off-頂点（に達する） hours, the better to help lower your electricity 法案.
Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra: What I don't like
Like a lot of other cleaners I've 実験（する）d, this one occasionally marches to the （警官の）巡回区域，受持ち区域 of its own drummer. During a mop-only cycle, for example, it cleaned the kitchen and hallway 床に打ち倒すs as 推定する／予想するd, then spent some time wandering around the living room ― which is carpeted and has nothing to mop.
Roborock's app is 公正に／かなり intuitive 全体にわたる, with all the requisite scheduling 選択s and 床に打ち倒す-きれいにする settings, but 苦しむs mightily in the 地図／計画する-editing department. For starters, it can create and 蓄える／店 only one 地図／計画する ― not ideal if you want to use this for 多重の levels of your home. Next, I had difficulty dividing up rooms on the 地図／計画する so I could 適切に label them. The app inexplicably decided that my tiny laundry room was the dining room; the entire 残りの人，物 of the 床に打ち倒す 計画（する） was labeled "living room." I tried to 改名する the former and discovered there was no suitable label 利用できる on the 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる） ― and no 選択 to create a custom label! That's inexcusable.
一方／合間, while trying to divide the 残り／休憩（する） of the 床に打ち倒す 計画（する） into things like "kitchen" and "TV room," the app 拒絶するd every divider line I tried to draw; it wouldn't 受託する them, and therefore I couldn't label my rooms. I tried 削除するing the 地図／計画する and creating a new one; this time it 許すd me to draw the lines needed for room 分割 ― but when I tried to save it, the app produced a "failed" message.
結局 I 人物／姿／数字d out the 問題／発行する, which is too 複雑にするd to explain here; 十分である it to say, Roborock needs to 改善する 地図／計画する editing. I had a much easier time with custom mapping in the Dyson and iRobot apps.
Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra: Should you buy it?
When I run the S8 in my house, the end result is (mostly) clean 床に打ち倒すs ― 正確に／まさに what you want and 推定する／予想する from a robot vacuum/mop. However, given the ultra-賞与金 price tag, I 推定する／予想するd a little more from Roborock's 旗艦. If I'd just plunked 負かす／撃墜する $1,800 and the first thing it did was roll over an 拡張 cord, I'd be 公正に／かなり unhappy.
一方／合間, I think many 使用者s will find themselves 失望させるd by Roborock's 地図／計画する editor; I certainly was. And I didn't like the 欠如（する） of multi-地図／計画する support, because it means I can't easily clean a second 床に打ち倒す.
There are some real 加えるs here, 含むing 平易な 体制／機構 and 操作／手術, useful 発言する／表明する 支配（する）／統制するs, 極端に powerful vacuuming and a 強健な mopping system . (I'm definitely a fan of heated washing and 乾燥した，日照りのing.) But if I'm choosing between this and the Narwal Freo X Ultra, which 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）s for $400 いっそう少なく and is often 割引d by hundreds more, I'm much more likely to choose the Narwal.
