Dyson 360 Vis Nav robot vacuum review: High on suction, low on features
Dyson makes some amazing vacuums. This isn't one of them.
Do you hate vacuuming? Do you like purple? Do you have $1,200? Then do I have a 製品 for you. The Dyson 360 Vis Nav is a robot 掃海艇 that looks like no other and, in some 尊敬(する)・点s, vacuums like no other. Unfortunately, it's also 定価つきの that way. That's not a 抱擁する surprise; Dyson 製品s have always fetched a 賞与金, and I understand why: For the most part, they're fantastic. But with other robot vacs selling for as little as $100, and some 追加するing mopping to the mix for just a little more, can this one 正当化する such an exorbitant 賞与金? (Spoiler 警報: No.) Here's my Dyson 360 Vis Nav review.
VERDICT: Even if you can afford it, the Dyson 360 Vis Nav isn't a smart buy. While it does an admirable 職業 sucking up dirt, it's やめる 限られた/立憲的な 全体にわたる. Hard on the decor, too.
- 独特の, futuristic looks...
- 平易な-to-empty dustbin...
- かなりの suction 力/強力にする...
- Dyson app mak es 操作/手術 平易な, 特に setting up きれいにする zones
- ...but also an eyesore
- ...but no self-emptying ドッキングする/減らす/ドックに入れる
- ...but no mop
- Can get very loud
- Short 殴打/砲列 life
- Insanely expensive
- Tiny dustbin needs to be emptied often
Dyson 360 Vis Nav: Design and 体制/機構
First things first: This is a vacuum and only a vacuum. It doesn't mop, a feature you now find in every cleaner 定価つきの over $1,000 (and plenty 定価つきの below). What's more, it doesn't have a self-emptying ドッキングする/減らす/ドックに入れる for its dustbin, something that's also a 中心的要素 in even 予算-定価つきの robovacs. (Example: The Eufy L60, 現在/一般に selling for $300.)
Assuming you're still here after that bombshell, let's talk about the Vis Nav's design. The 広大な 大多数 of robot vacuums are 黒人/ボイコット or white, and most are circular. The glossy purple Vis Nav is 形態/調整d more like a letter D, with its roller 小衝突 on 目だつ 陳列する,発揮する in the 前線 (much like on an upright vac).
It's really 冷静な/正味の-looking, no question; very futuri stic and sports car-like. The embedded silver dustbin reminds me of something you'd see under the hood of a vintage roadster. But the Vis Nav sticks out like a sore thumb in my house, and it's 完全に possible someone who lives here 発言/述べるd, "What is that doing here? It's not staying, is it?"
Not that other robot vacuums are 特に attractive, but I can 想像する a lot of 反対s to this color. Not helping 事柄s: The ドッキングする/減らす/ドックに入れる 要求するs you to attach a weird 掲示 to the backside (maybe to help with return 航海?), 追加するing another weird and unappealing visual element to the 体制/機構.
At least actual 体制/機構 is やめる 平易な, starting with an illustrated first-steps guide. As with most such 製品s, you plug in the ドッキングする/減らす/ドックに入れる (making sure to place it somewhere there's a bit of space on either 味方する), place the vacuum on it so it starts 非難する, then 任命する/導入する the companion app on your phone.
That app, MyDyson, is excellent, one of the most straightforward and novice-friendly I've tried. It walks you through the remaining 体制/機構 steps, 最高潮に達するing with a 簡潔な/要約する tutorial about getting your home ready for きれいにする. Unfortunately, that 含むs things like 除去するing any and all small items from the 床に打ち倒す (cords, 着せる/賦与するs, etc.), 示唆するing the Vis Nav isn't smart enough to (悪事,秘密などを)発見する and navigate around them. More on that in a bit.
Dyson 360 Vis Nav: Features and 操作/手術
Once the robot 成し遂げるs an 初期の mapping of your space, you can 指定する individual rooms ― nice if you want it to clean, say, just the kitchen after a マラソン bread-making 開会/開廷/会期 has left flour all over the 床に打ち倒す. Dyson's app makes this "zoning" 体制/機構 admirably 平易な, with a lot more handholding than you get from most vacuum apps and a lot いっそう少なく 混乱 全体にわたる. Just one shortcoming : You can't 位置/汚点/見つけ出す-clean an individual area ― say, just where the flour is. It's an entire room or nothing.
The app also shows a "heat 地図/計画する" of where the Vis Nav 遭遇(する)d the most dust and 破片 during its last run. It looks really 冷静な/正味の, and it 知らせるs where the robot will 焦点(を合わせる) more きれいにする 成果/努力s on その後の runs, but it's 肉親,親類d of superfluous data for the 使用者. I'm reminded of Jerry Seinfeld's 返答 when the 操縦する 発表するs everything he's going to be doing during the flight: "Uh, yeah, 罰金. Just do whatever the hell it is you gotta do."
The vacuum's 殴打/砲列 is good for around 65 minutes of きれいにする, によれば Dyson ― definitely on the low 味方する. Every other vacuum I've 実験(する)d could cover the modestly sized main 床に打ち倒す of my home without having to recharge; the Vis Nav had to return to the ドッキングする/減らす/ドックに入れる once to recharge.
To be fair, this 'bot packs more suction 力/強力にする than most, though it's a bit hard to quantify. Dyson doesn't rely on the same Pa (Pascals) ratings as most other vacs; instead, the company 示すs AW (空気/公表する ワットs) 力/強力にする, in this 事例/患者 65 AW. Dyson says that equates to "2x the suction of any other robot vacuum," a pretty bold (人命などを)奪う,主張する. To put that in 視野, the company's V8 cordless vac 申し込む/申し出s 115 AW. That's not to say the Vis Nav isn't powerful, or more powerful than the 競争, just that it's (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域 by another Dyson 製品 定価つきの かなり いっそう少なく ($390 at this 令状ing).
Dyson also 約束s 360-degree 航海 支えるd by 26 sensors. I don't know if it's a fault of the 金物類/武器類 or the ソフトウェア, but during my 初期の きれいにする run, the Vis Nav got stuck under an IKEA (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する. I'm really sick of robot vacuums that don't know how tall they are and can't 計器 where they can fit. After I 解放する/自由なd it from the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する, I watched while it tried 繰り返して to squeeze itself under it again. It didn't get stuck again, thankfully, and 結局 it gave up ― until the next visit to this room, when it once again tried to get under the same (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する.
On a その後の きれいにする, I 仕事d it with just the living room, which it polished off in just under 20 minutes. But afterward the app 知らせるd me the Vis Nav "needed attention," which seemed 半端物 given that it had 首尾よく returned to the ドッキングする/減らす/ドックに入れる; it wasn't stuck somewhere or snagged on a shoelace. The その後の error message 示すd a blockage, which I also 設立する surprising given that it had only done one 十分な きれいにする and one small-ish room.
Turns out, the dustbin was 十分な ― like, really 十分な. I've been spoiled by self-emptying robot vacs, which can go for weeks without needing dustbin attention. It's a testament to the Vis Nav's suction 力/強力にする that it collected so much dirt. But the comparatively tiny 貯蔵所 will need to be manually emptied after nearly every clean, and although it's 平易な to do ― slide it out, 持つ/拘留する it over a trashcan, 圧力(をかける) an "排除する/(飛行機などから)緊急脱出する" button ― it gets to be a chore. Once again, it's all but inexcusable that Dyson would 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金 $1,200 for this machine and not 含む a self-emptying ドッキングする/減らす/ドックに入れる.
一方/合間, the Vis Nav is noisy. I started off using 自動車 方式, which theoretically 上げるs suction where needed and 減ずるs it where not. I get that a powerful vacuum is going to make noise, but it's loud even when it's just 運動ing around, not 活発に vacuuming. There's also a low-level grinding sound at times, to the point where I didn't want to be 近づく the Vis Nav when it was running.
Other 利用できる きれいにする 方式s 含む Quick, 静かな and 上げる; I tried 静かな and it helped somewhat, but 全体にわたる, this is one of the noisier robot vacs I've 実験(する)d.
That said, I can't argue with results: It did a 広大な/多数の/重要な 職業 on carpets and rugs, and pretty 井戸/弁護士席 on hard 床に打ち倒すs. (I did occasionally find a few crumbs it 行方不明になるd.)
Dyson 360 Vis Nav: Should you buy it?
I come here not to bury Dyson, but to 賞賛する it: I've owned two of the company's vacuums, a handheld and an upright, for over 14 years, and they've been flawless. I love them.
I do not love the 360 Vis Nav, にもかかわらず it 存在 one of the easiest robot vacuums to use and one of the most powerful (at least as 証拠d by how much dirt it 除去するd from my 床に打ち倒すs). I just can't get past the price. It doesn't empty itself. It doesn't mop. It's not smart enough to 避ける simple 障害s like too-low (米)棚上げする/(英)提議するs and 潜在的に ruinous ones like pet waste. And let me be blunt: It looks ridiculous. 冷静な/正味の, but ridiculous as a home 器具.
Would I feel 異なって if this had a price tag of, say, $600? I would, because then the 不平等 between this and other expensive robo-cleaners wouldn't seem so large; I could more easily overlook the Vis Nav's shortcomings. Dyson makes some incredible vacuums; this isn't one of them.
