事柄 certification is more 未来-proof since 装置s can work 地元で without dependence on cloud services.

I've been 抵抗力のある to the idea of a smart home for a long time, but the 事柄 badge that I now see on many 製品s has surprisingly brought me the peace of mind to start building one of my own.
What Is 事柄?
事柄 is a cross-壇・綱領・公約 基準 for all things smart home. It 許すs 装置s to work with a variety of smart home ecosystems, and it's slowly becoming more popular as more 装置s arrive. With 事柄, you don't need to 追跡（する） around for a light bulb designed 特に for Apple HomeKit or Google Home if you've already got a Samsung SmartThings or アマゾン Alexa 体制／機構.
All the major companies are on board with the 事柄 基準 含むing Apple, Google, アマゾン, Samsung, and the Zigbee 同盟. While the rollout of 装置s have been slow and some features still 要求する pesky proprietary apps, the 事柄 基準 is 絶えず 発展させるing and looks 始める，決める to finally realize its 約束s in 2025 and beyond.
I'm No Longer Afraid of 存在 Locked Into One Ecosystem
The most popular smart home ecosystems are all tied to a 明確な／細部 company. There's Google Home, Apple HomeKit, アマゾン Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings. Buying 装置s 特に designed for any of these ecosystems meant I would be tying my 運命／宿命 to the whims of a 会社／団体. If that company decided to abandon or 徹底的に change its smart home 計画（する）s, I would either have to go along for the ride or 潜在的に 結局最後にはーなる having to 取って代わる hundreds―if not thousands―of dollars of 科学（工学）技術.
Then there's the more likely シナリオ of me 簡単に wanting to move away from having a Google account or deciding I'm tired of Samsung and want to try something else.
With 事柄, this is いっそう少なく of a 関心. 事柄-両立できる 装置s are designed to work across any of these ecosystems, as long as the ecosystems themselves support the 事柄 基準. I 現在／一般に use SmartThings, a result of my having a Samsung phone, fridge, and TV that formed the genesis of my smart home ambitions. As long as I 拡大する my smart home with 事柄-enabled 装置s, I know I can switch in the 未来 with 極小の 苦痛.
My 購入（する）s Are More 未来-Proof
伝統的な homes are built to last １０年間s. You can 任命する／導入する a 伝統的な light switch knowing that it may just 生き延びる you. You may need to 取って代わる a light bulb, but the lamp or light fixtures aren't going anywhere.
Smart home 装置s don't have the same longevity. 基準s change and some 科学（工学）技術s, like 殴打／砲列s, come with a 限られた／立憲的な lifespan. 事柄 doesn't change this, but it does 改善する the 状況／情勢. It 除去するs the 危険 that a light bulb, camera, or 力／強力にする 出口 loses all of its features because the 製造業者 has shut 負かす／撃墜する the servers it depended on.
事柄 装置s are designed to work 地元で and offline. Features that are baked into the 議定書 can work as long as you have a working smart home 中心. In my 事例／患者, my 中心 is my TV. As long as my Wi-Fi 網状組織 stays up, and my TV 作品, I can continue to send 命令（する）s to my smart home gadgets without a need for 現在進行中の cloud 組織／基盤／下部構造.
I Don't Have to Juggle as Many Apps
When each smart home 装置 is 扶養家族 on its own cloud service, that means I have to 任命する／導入する a new app for each line of 装置. There is an app for my vacuum, for example, which is not controllable 経由で 事柄.
There can even be 多重の apps for the same type of thing. I may have to use a Philips Hue app for some light bulbs and TP-Link's Tapo app for others. If I buy some fancy Govee icicle lights, those would 要求する a different app from my 存在するing Umbra Cono smart lamps, which use the Nanoleaf app.

These apps all continue to 存在する, but as long as the 装置s are 事柄-certified, I can choose to ignore them. There are 確かな features that are only 利用できる inside the apps, but I know the 核心 functionality can be managed 直接／まっすぐに from SmartThings.
That means that while I do need to open the Tapo app 現在／一般に to see how much energy an 器具 is using through my Tapo P210M smart 出口, if all I want to do is turn a receptacle on and off remotely, I can do that 直接／まっすぐに from SmartThings. With 未来 updates, I will hopefully be able to 見解（をとる） energy usage from SmartThings 同様に.
体制／機構 Is Much Simpler
任命する／導入するing a 事柄-両立できる 装置 is straightforward. I know that when I open the box, all I need to do is tap the "+" 加える button in SmartThings to 追加する a 装置 and ざっと目を通す the QR code that comes 含むd. As long as the 装置 I'm 試みる／企てるing to 追加する is turned on, it will soon pop up in SmartThings, where I can give it a 指名する and 割り当てる it a room.
This is so much better than having to download yet another app, create another account to 蓄える／店 in my password 経営者／支配人 and go through the song and dance of 人物／姿／数字ing out how this particular 装置 wants to pair with my phone or connect to the internet.
Knowing that I already know how to 始める，決める up a 装置 and 追加する it to my ecosystem makes me more likely to make a 購入（する）. I don't have much 利益／興味 in playing around with lights and 出口s to 人物／姿／数字 out how to get them to work. I just want them to work, only with a few more features than the ones I already have.
事柄 isn't perfect. In fact, there's still a lot of work left to do. I like 事柄 so much in part because Samsung does a good 職業 of supporting the 基準. Google, 一方／合間, is much その上の behind.
To truly take 支配（する）／統制する of my smart home, 事柄 helps, but a more 持続する answer lies in the open-source, community-supported, and 活発に developed smart home 中心 called Home Assistant. Someday, maybe, I'll give it a 発射.
