The "平易な" way to 手段 降雨 electronically is with a "tipper" 装置.

Rain from a known 水平の area is collected with a funnel. It 落ちるs in a tiny waterfall の上に something like a little see-saw with a piece of roof gutter on it's upper 味方する. The "roof gutter is divided in the middle by a vertical septum. As the rain dribbles into the gutter, it begins to collect on the 上りの／困難な 味方する of the see-saw. When enough has collected, the see-saw tips. Now the septum has moved, and newly fallen rain collects in the other, now upper, 味方する of the see-saw. When enough has collected... and so on.

Connected to the see-saw is a magnet. As the see-saw tips, the magnet passes by a reed switch. The 開始s and の近くにing of the reed switch 明らかにする／漏らす the 降雨 to whatever you connect it to.

I have tried making the tippers... and it isn't 平易な to get the geometries just 権利. Go ahead... 扱う／治療する yourself... buy one ready made. The big boys can afford to have the necessary bits made out of plastic. (This page was started in 2002. Of course, today (1/17), 3D printers mean that tippers are probably 利用できる from hobbyists.)

The 降雨 measurer that I recommend, in the "serious hobbyist" 範囲, is the "Rain collector" from Davis 器具s. The "mouth" is about 16cm (7") across. One pulse from the tipper arises for each 0.01" of 降雨. Okay... it does cost $85 (加える p&p, 1/17).. but, for what you get, and the difficulties of making your own, I consider that a very fair price. I've had one up on a roof in New England 天候 for years, no hassles.

The illustration on the 権利 is my rain 計器. The 審査する over the 最高の，を越す 妥協s the （犯罪，病気などの）発見 of light にわか雨s... but it also saves me （疑いを）晴らすing leaves and pine needles! As with all 天候 sensors, spend the time to make anything 権利 once. The 審査する is 機動力のある to a collar, easily 除去するd for きれいにする.

公式文書，認める also that the whole sensor is 機動力のある on a little "（米）棚上げする／（英）提議する" on "feet" of threaded 棒. Nuts and washers make getting the （米）棚上げする／（英）提議する LEVEL 平易な. 価値（がある） the hassle.

Other 選択s

An excellent one was 利用できる from AAG. It is the one once sold by Dallas, as a デモ to 促進する its 1-Wire 半導体素子s. You may find it at eBay from time to time.

There is an electronic rain 計器 made by LaCross 科学（工学）技術s, once sold for $35. Try "lacrosse rain 計器" at アマゾン. About $45, 1/17

The hobbyist 天候 sensor array from Argent Data Systems has a tipping bucket sensor, an 早期に 見解／翻訳／版 of the Lacross 製品, I believe.

I'm told that the "基準" collecting funnel, as 委任統治（領）d by the US 天候 Service has an 8" 直径.

Colder climes: If you have below 氷点の periods, it is an 利益／興味ing challenge to fit your "rain" 落ちる collector with something to warm it, turn snow to rain, and find out how much has fallen that way. See my page about 手段ing 降雪 if you are 利益／興味d other answers.

降雨 collectors are 特に 攻撃を受けやすい to problems arising from 破片 (leaves, etc) and the activities of arthropods. If you put a 審査する over the 最高の，を越す, you will, in each 暴風雨, "行方不明になる" some of the 降雨.

This page is meant for hobbyists. A lot of 楽しみ (or inspiration to 改善する your design!) can be had from comparing the results your electronic 降雨 監視するs 記録，記録的な／記録する with the results of a simple 伝統的な rain 計器.
