The International
My 支配する, the "internationalization" of OpenOffice.org, derives from an 現在進行中の 審議 over 問題／発行するs whose importance to Open Source 事業／計画（する）s 需要・要求するs 事実 治療. I want here, then, to 簡潔に sketch out the argument that has been engaging 関係者s on the discuss 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる） of OpenOffice.org regarding the 創造 of 見解／翻訳／版s of OpenOffice.org mailing 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）s (and even of the 場所／位置) in さまざまな "major" languages. If my 条件 are a little coy, that’s because there has not been so far (as of Friday, 16 March), any 確かな 鮮明度／定義 of what such a 過程 of internationalization would entail, should it even go 今後. But for those who want to read more on the 問題／発行する, I 勧める you to 言及する to the 広範囲にわたる thread in the discuss mailing 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）.
Some background is ーするために understand some of the 問題／発行するs that were raised by the discussions. OpenOffice.org traces its origins to the German ソフトウェア developed by the German company 星／主役にする 分割, and most of its Sun developers are German and speak German. 星／主役にする 分割 was bought by the U.S.'s Sun Microsystems two years ago. Today, work on OpenOffice.org ソフトウェア is 行為／行うd まず第一に／本来, if not 排他的に, in English. That work is not done 完全に in the U.S. It is in fact 全世界の, with the support staff 位置を示すd both in the San Francisco Bay Area and Ireland, and developers in Germany and throughout the world. From this 視野, then, it would seem that OpenOffice.org is anything but 地方の; that it is, in fact, very international indeed.
The very fact that OpenOffice.org is so international raises some questions: Why is English (and not German, say) the predominant language? Does the de facto predominance of English in the website and in the mailing 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）s help or 妨げる the growth of the community? And, would it be reasonable (and feasible) to 始める，決める up special mailing 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）s and website sections that would 許す 非，不，無-English speaking developers, 使用者s, and the 単に curious to 交流 ideas (if not やむを得ず code) efficiently?
As Guy Capra of the French 場所／位置 OpenOffice.fr (an 独立した・無所属 影をつくる／尾行する of OpenOffice.org) has argued, the advantage of linguistically diversifying OpenOffice.org content is that more developers might wish to join the community and 参加する in developing the code. によれば this argument, not only would they find it easier to communicate amongst themselves in their native language but they would also, perhaps, feel いっそう少なく of a 憤慨 to 参加するing in yet another English-only 事業／計画（する）. Developers would not only feel more inclined to 与える／捧げる code without feeling that they had to enter an English-only community but would be more inclined to 与える／捧げる to a 事業／計画（する） that was more "theirs." The 事業／計画（する） would thus grow as it linguistically diversified.
But the 対立 to this argument is やめる strong and has been most 正確に 表明するd by Sun's 法案 Roth and Dietrich Schulten. Any dynamic open-source 事業／計画（する） always veers に向かって the 大混乱／混沌とした and needs an 組織するing 原則 in order to stay 焦点（を合わせる）d. さもなければ, any 事業／計画（する） 危険s not just a centrifugal disintegration, but a forking of content (and perhaps even code) that 最終的に 減らすs the value of the 心配するd 製品. Thus, if OpenOffice.org were to create 衛星 or 平行の 場所／位置s in さまざまな languages, the 事業／計画（する） as a whole might 苦しむ because developers may either 中止する crossing linguistic gaps to communicate with other developers (French developers may not bother to communicate with, say, German developers)–which is a 公正に／かなり ありそうもない シナリオ–or there might just be the specter of a terrible 混乱, as redundant 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）s and redundant messages in さまざまな languages start proliferating. And, for those developers working in a language other than English, they could use one of the Web's translating services (such as Alta Vista's BabelFish) to translate messages into English and 支援する into their chosen tongue.
