Tell us about yourself and what you do besides OpenOffice.org.
I'm working at the University of Florida as a 研究 Scientist for the LIGO 事業／計画（する）. The レーザー Interferometer Gravitational-Wave 観測所 (LIGO) 事業／計画（する） is a 開拓するing 成果／努力 that 目的（とする）s at the direct （犯罪，病気などの）発見 of gravitational waves. (See the PR on LIGO.) I （機の）カム here after finishing my Ph.D. in physics at the University of Hannover in Germany.
How did you get 伴う／関わるd in OpenOffice.org?
In the first place I got curious about this new 解放する／自由な and open source 事業／計画（する） called OpenOffice.org a few years ago. I tried to build it from source and realized that the build 道具s 要求するd to build it for Windows 要求するd a mixture of 古風な (obsolete) 解放する／自由な posix 道具s and a 非，不，無-解放する／自由な 命令（する） line 道具. I thought that this 衝突s with the open source idea and started to work on it in my spare time.
What do you do for OpenOffice.org?
Thanks to the 大規模な help of Hans-Joachim Lankenau of Sun in the beginning we managed to modernize the build system of OpenOffice.org for W32 to use おもに the Cygwin 環境 (www.cygwin.com) and 除去する the need of other proprietary 道具s beside the Compiler.
Even though this work was finished the build system as used by the OpenOffice.org community http://道具s.openoffice.org/#Build needs 現在進行中の 維持／整備 because the developers of our main sponsor unfortunately use a different build 環境 and this いつかs leads to problems when new features are 器具／実施するd. As a member of the ESC I am 井戸／弁護士席 aware that there is room for 改良s in the 調整 with other developers.
Where & how would you recommend others to 与える／捧げる?
I cannot really recommend 明確な／細部 仕事s, each person has his/her own fields of 専門的知識. A good start is to go to /与える／捧げるing/索引.html and look for the area you would have the most fun when 与える／捧げるing to our 事業／計画（する） and help there.
