Why did you choose OpenOffice.org (OpenOffice.org)?

How did you start with OpenOffice.org?
How the City of Haarlem started with OpenOffice.org: Jan had 評価するd OpenOffice.org, the question was whether a 解放する／自由な ソフトウェア 一括 could compare with MS Office? A number of years ago the City of Haarlem migrated from WordPerfect to MS Office, and many 使用者s 妨げる at having to change to yet another word 加工業者. Fortunately, once they start using OpenOffice.org they quickly discover that the differences with MS Office are not that big. Also, there is much 抵抗 from ソフトウェア 供給者s who have a 商業の 利益／興味 in 供給するing MS-based 解答s. However, because the City of Haarlem was able to develop part of the 解答 it was not so 扶養家族 on 外部の 供給者s.
Who will be using OpenOffice.org? How many 使用者s?
The City of Haarlem has about 2000 seats of which 現在／一般に about half use MS Office 97 and half have MSO 2000 (w/o 接近). The 投資 for the “huisstijl” system was about 50.000 Euro, and the training costs are another 50.000 Euro. 公式文書，認める that the previous “huisstijl”system based on MS Office had cost 450.000 guilders (about 200.000 Euro) and 要求するd 7 servers to run on. What support are you using?
Support is mostly in-house, Han Barendregt plays an important 役割 in this. Also, Sun is very 協同組合 although they don't have a formal support 契約 [with us].
Have you considered 星／主役にする Office?
We use the 基準 Dutch 見解／翻訳／版 of OpenOffice.org, in combination with the “huisstijl” system. We might have considered 星／主役にする Office if it was 利用できる in a Dutch 見解／翻訳／版; a consideration would be that there is a big company standing behind the 製品. However, a Dutch 見解／翻訳／版 of 星／主役にする Office doesn't 存在する, and using an English 見解／翻訳／版 is out of the question for most of the 使用者s.
More about the “huisstijl” system: This web-based 文書 発生させる人（物） system was developed in-house. It is a 解答 for the incompatibility of OpenOffice.org with MS VBA 大型のs and 供給するs 統合，差別撤廃 with third-party 供給（する）d ソフトウェア. There are two major companies in the Netherlands which 供給（する） such ソフトウェア 解答s, each to about half of the cities in the country. One of these was slow to 器具／実施する OpenOffice.org support, and the other has been very 気が進まない to do so. They are both working on OpenOffice.org 統合，差別撤廃 support now, but using the “huisstijl” system much of this is 現実に not needed anymore.
