Starting as mere database 接近 functionality of the other OpenOffice 使用／適用s, Base has 発展させるd to an own database 使用／適用. It 許すs you to 接近 data on an 外部の database of your choice (for instance MySQL, PostgreSQL, and many others), 加える bundles the HSQLDB database engine, this way 許すing you to kick-start with your own database.
