General 必要物/必要条件s

OpenOffice needs -

  1. Enhancements to the bibliographic database and 内部の data structure; fields need to be able to 扱う larger texts eg 多重の authors; the data structure need to be 両立できる to new 基準s; it needs to support more コンビナート/複合体 data structures such as a author (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する liked to bibliographic 記録,記録的な/記録するs.
  2. 準備/条項 for 文書 style support, which 含むs page formatting and citation method and bibliographic 判型s. (eg MLA 明示するs page formatting and citation types for technical papers and student essays.)
  3. Build a method for building 文書 style descriptions and 輸入するing and 輸出(する)ing these.
  4. 供給する 輸入する and 輸出(する) 施設s for bibliographic data in ありふれた 判型s.
  5. Support for the 十分な 範囲 of ありふれた citation styles. In-text and footnote / endnote methods and Footnote symbols.
  6. A much better bibliographic data 入ること/参加(者), edit, and browsing 施設s. 類似の to high-end 商業の 使用/適用s such as Endnote.
  7. Ability 蓄える/店 and 直接/まっすぐに 接近 bibliographic data on a database. Ability to interact with other bibliographic databases.
  8. Ability to 直接/まっすぐに query 言及/関連 sources 経由で the internet and 追加する 返答s to bibliographic 記録,記録的な/記録するs.

欠陥/不足s needing 是正

1. The Bibliographic 言及/関連ing needs to support the footnote citation style (一般的に used in the Humanities, and 特に in History) such as defined in the Chicago 手動式の of Style. Eg
------------

34. T.M. Charles-Edwards,"Honour and Status in Some Irish and Welsh Prose Tales.", Eriu, xxxvi, 1978.

現在/一般に citation 重要な is 現在/一般に defined as 直す/買収する,八百長をするd character string called the ‘short 指名する’ eg [DWILSON:2000] which the 使用者 enters when the bibliographic 言及/関連 is entered. The field 選択 and formatting 施設 利用できる for the bibliographic (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する (and other 索引 and (米)棚上げする/(英)提議するs) needs to be able to 判型 the footnote citation string.

2a. There needs to 準備/条項 for defining citations and 言及/関連s with different 治療 for first and その後の uses of the citation. There is a tedious and fault 傾向がある 面s of the footnote / endnote citation method - the 維持/整備 the 初期の and その後の citations in the 訂正する order as one edits the text. It is not difficult when editing to move a piece of text and have as result the 初期の Citation 言及/関連 coming after the その後の 言及/関連.

2b.Then there is the 問題/発行する of support for 扱う/治療するing repeating footnote 言及/関連s such as the use of - 24. ibid.

3a. Endnote citations are only 部分的に/不公平に supported. Citations can be 示すd by numbers and this enables the use of the endnote method of citation. As the Bibliographic (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する can 機能(する)/行事 as the endnote citations placed at the end of the 一時期/支部 of the 文書. However the Chicago 手動式の of Style 明示するs different 判型s for footnote / endnote citations and the bibliographic (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する (citation use 初期のs & Surname, Bibliography (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する uses Surname & 初期のs). 現在/一般に only one 判型 can be defined.

3b. There needs to be an 選択 to place the endnotes an a 使用者 selectable 場所. 現在/一般に there are only two 選択s 利用できる at the end of the 文書 or at the end of each section. The 推論する/理由 this needs to be make more flexable is that style 手動式のs 明示する different 場所s. For example the formatting 指導基準s for APA and Chicago style submissions 明示する the に引き続いて order for the sections in a 文書:

APA Style
肩書を与える page
abstract
text
言及/関連s
虫垂s
author 公式文書,認める
footnotes/endnotes
(米)棚上げする/(英)提議するs
人物/姿/数字 captions
人物/姿/数字s
Chicago Style (支援する 事柄)

See 問題/発行する number 37679 for 詳細(に述べる)s.

4a. Chicago 手動式の of Style 要求するs repeated author 指名するs in the Bibliographic (米)棚上げする/(英)提議するs to be 示すd by a three-em dash eg.

Dickens, Charles. A Tale of Two Cities (London:Penguin 調書をとる/予約するs, 2000)
――― Nicholas Nickelby, (London: Penguin 調書をとる/予約するs, 1956)
――― Oliver 新たな展開, (New York, 無作為の House,1965)

The bibliographic (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する 発生させる人(物) should do this.

4b. Associated with bibliographic (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する 世代 is special sorting 支配するs. 準備/条項 needs to be made for these. (as so 井戸/弁護士席 discussed in D. E. Knuth. Sorting and Searching. Example: how to sort ‘Mujahid Usamah 貯蔵所 Ladin’ ; ‘ 貯蔵所 ‘ is always ignored in sorting.)

Another sorting 問題/発行する - When used to create a 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる) of 言及/関連s for an APA style paper, the 言及/関連s need to be sorted by (Author, Date) sequence, which is straightforward enough, but 言及/関連s without an identifiable author (such as a web page) need to be 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる)d by the 肩書を与える of the article and alphabatized in the 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる) accordingly.

5. There is a need to support more that one 文書 style. The 現在の 施設s support only one 文書 style. The (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する 鮮明度/定義s for bibliographic (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する can be manually 修正するd to support a particular citation style. But the 修正するd style can not be save, or selected. (Saving the 文書 (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する 判型s as templates is possible, but this is not the most convenient way of 取引,協定ing with citation styles.)

6. There should be 準備/条項 for Footnote symbols. The Chicago 手動式の of Style 規定するs that when Endnotes and Footnotes are both used, the Endnotes are consecutively numbered (1,2,3 ...) and the footnotes 言及/関連d by symbols. The series they 示唆する are -

a list of symbols like # * ect.

As more symbols are needed they are 二塁打d and trebled -

a list of symbols like ## ** ### *** ect.

6a. At 現在の there are two loosely coupled bibliographic 施設s. One is the old StarOffice 5.2 Bibliographic database (dbase 判型) It has a simple 言及/関連 insertion 過程. When an database bibliographic 入ること/参加(者) is dragged の上に a 文書, a dialog box opens which 許すs the fields 要求するd for the 入ること/参加(者) to be selected. This 過程 can be configured for only one citation 判型 in one citation style - eg 調書をとる/予約する 言及/関連 for MLA - and it does not support character formatting of fields, such as italic or を強調するing.

6b. The other 施設 in new in OpenOffice. It 蓄える/店s bibliographic data within the 文書. The data is entered through '挿入する >索引s and (米)棚上げする/(英)提議するs> Bibliographic 入ること/参加(者)' 機能(する)/行事, and bibliographic (米)棚上げする/(英)提議するs can be 生成するd from it. There is no capacity for this in-文書 bibliographic data to be 輸入するd or 輸出(する)d (other than 切り開く/タクシー/不正アクセスing them out of the save とじ込み/提出する).

6c. There is no 準備/条項 to enable the 移転 of data between the 内部の 文書 貯蔵 and the dbase Bibliographic database.

6d. 現在/一般に no link is 持続するd between the database and the 挿入するd citation. If the database 言及/関連 is changed, 現在/一般に the citations 言及するing to that 言及/関連 have to be manually re-挿入するd or manually 訂正するd. A link to the bibliographic citation source (such as the database) must be made, and an 'citation update for source' 命令(する) created. See 問題/発行する 44189.

7. The only 輸入する / 輸出(する) 施設s 利用できる for bibliographic data is 経由で the dbase Bibliographic database by copying the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する and pasting in into another one and saving it as dbase, CSV or text. The same method can be used to 輸入する. This is hardly convenient. Nor is there any 準備/条項 to 輸入する or 輸出(する) bibliographic data using any of the ありふれた 判型s ? Endnotes, bibtex, Ovid, Medline, 言及する, isifile, etc.

8. The data model used for the bibliographic database is based upon BibTeX. This has several 制限s, it only supports a few 文書 types and does not 適切に support new マスコミ types. A MODS 両立できる data model is より望ましい.

"MODS - Metadata 反対する Description Schema. The Library of 議会' 網状組織 開発 and MARC 基準s Office, with 利益/興味d 専門家s, has developed a schema for a bibliographic element 始める,決める that may be used for a variety of 目的s, and 特に for library 使用/適用s. As an XML schema, the "Metadata 反対する Description Schema" (MODS) is ーするつもりであるd to be able to carry selected data from 存在するing MARC 21 記録,記録的な/記録するs 同様に as to enable the 創造 of 初めの 資源 description 記録,記録的な/記録するs. It 含むs a subset of MARC fields and uses language-based tags rather than numeric ones, in some 事例/患者s 再編成するing elements from the MARC 21 bibliographic 判型. MODS is 表明するd using the XML schema language."

9. The dbase bibliographic database has field size 制限s which are too small for most 状況/情勢s.

10. There should be 選択 to select a 文書 style that 適用するs to the whole 文書. Some styles such as MLA’s 研究 Paper defines line spacing, 利ざやs and headings.

11. If a 使用者 is 推定する/予想するd to 適合する to a 文書 style, there is no support to 補助装置 a 使用者 to 持続する this style. It would be useful to have some 機能(する)/行事 that could save the 使用者 from accidently modifing a setting that 侵害する/違反するs the style.

We could 達成する this 追加するing an 選択 that would 許す a 使用者 to switch on a '厳密に 施行する Style (Y/N)' 旗. The idea is that it would 妨げる the 使用者 from 修正するing the 文書 style 面s defined by the selected 文書 Style. This could also make the OOo word 加工業者 easier to use as many of the 機能(する)/行事s would be grayed-out or not shown. The 使用者 would not be so bewildered with choice. The 使用者 could at any time turn off '厳密に 施行する Style' and have 接近 to all settings.

I 想像する this 機能(する)/行事 with working with a 'Select 文書 Style' 選択 which would select the bibliographic 判型 style, but could 含む all the elments that (不足などを)補う a 文書 style guide. 利ざやs, text size spacing, order of 文書 構成要素s etc.

12. There is no support for types of citations with a style, of the type -

If I 引用する a 文書(調書をとる/予約する/定期刊行物/article etc.) without a page it looks like

"This method is very reliable (AUTHOR YEAR)"
f.e. "This method is very reliable (BASLER 2003)

or

"But AUTHOR (YEAR) showed that..."
f.e. "But WILSON(2002) showed that this method is not very reliable."
If a page or some pages are 引用するd (direct or indirect) it must look like
"'This method is very reliable' (AUTHOR YEAR:12)"
f.e. "'This method is very reliable' (BASLER 2003:12)"

or

"'This method is very reliable' (BASLER 2003:12 ff.)"

or

"AUTHOR (YEAR:12) 明言する/公表するd 'This method is very reliable.'"
f.e. "BASLER (2003:12) 明言する/公表するd 'This method is very reliable.'"

or

"BASLER (2003:12 f.) 結論するs that this method is very reliable.'"

Some comments on that:
1. The AUTHOR(s) must be in small 資本/首都s (as every person everywhere in the text - a 必要物/必要条件 in some European countries).
2. One author: "AUTHOR 2003" Two authors: "AUTHOR1 & AUTHOR2 2003" Three or more: "AUTHOR1 ET AL. 2003"

If there are more than one 出版(物) of an author in the same year it must look like:
"BASLER 2003a" and "BASLER 2003b" a.s.o.
In the bibliography the above example would look like
BASLER, M. (YEAR): 調書をとる/予約する 肩書を与える. City1 et al.

or

BASLER, M. & D. WILSON (YEAR): 調書をとる/予約する 肩書を与える. City1 et al. or BASLER, M. D., WILSON, A. NONAME & B. NONAME (YEAR): 調書をとる/予約する 肩書を与える. City1 et al.

公式文書,認める that in the bibliography 索引 ALL authors 含むing their 初期のs must be 明言する/公表するd, in the text citations only the first, followed by "ET AL."
