So, first off, 許す me to 明言する/公表する that the most remarkable thing about the last year has been—and will continue to be—the growth and maturation of the OpenOffice.org community.

A year ago, when I wrote the first birthday 報告(する)/憶測, I was discussing the 638c build. We were not thinking of endusers. But that was before the 提案 to 可決する・採択する the community-sponsored and 持続するd OpenOffice.org was agreed to by the community earlier this year.

This generosity characterizes Open Source. Verizon now uses OpenOffice.org 1.0, and it has saved the company millions of dollars. Partly, this surely has to with Microsoft's new licensing program (6.0), which assumes that the 支払う/賃金ing 会社/団体 is rich and, importantly, has no other choices (in fact, "no choice" sums up Microsoft's 戦略). But the move to OpenOffice.org also has to do with the 承認 that the very 関係 Microsoft has その上のd and off of which it has gotten so rich is not in the people's best 利益/興味. It's not even in a 会社/団体's.

In the next six months I fully 推定する/予想する that everything we have so far seen and marveled over—OpenOffice.org's 人気, the growth of the 事業/計画(する)—will 証明する to be hints to something vaster. OpenOffice.org is a 製品 that is 存在 認めるd as すぐに usable but also as something to which one can 追加する things; and OpenOffice.org as a community is only beginning to 形態/調整 the way people think about their 製品.
