放射線療法
From September to November of 2006, I had a six-week course of 放射線療法 to the 権利 味方する of my neck, as part of the 治療 for my Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma. This page 再生するs, in edited and 拡大するd form, the blog 地位，任命するs I wrote 文書ing the 過程.
準備
This week, I had my perspex 爆撃する made and fitted. It will keep me in 正確に／まさに the same place for the 30 放射線療法 開会／開廷／会期s.
The 過程 was somewhat like the one 述べるd in Wikipedia's 入ること／参加（者） on Lifecasting. I went to a special Mould Room at the hospital, and lay flat on a special （米）棚上げする／（英）提議する with my 長，率いる 攻撃するd as far 支援する as possible, so important stuff will stay out of the beam. My 長，率いる and neck were smeared with vaseline, then (apart from my 直面する) covered with blue alginate gel and plaster of paris 包帯s to 追加する strength. After five minutes of setting, the whole thing was peeled off.
I then went home. While I was gone, they filled it was more plaster of paris to make a 破産した／（警察が）手入れする, and the 逆転するd it again by vacuum-moulding a plastic sheet around the 破産した／（警察が）手入れする. The result was trimmed, and a 穴を開ける was 削減（する） for my 直面する. Two days later, I returned for a second fitting. With the 新規加入 of extra shoulder 抑制s and clips, they can use the resulting 爆撃する, which fits me 正確に／まさに, to pin me to a （米）棚上げする／（英）提議する in such a way that I can only move a couple of millimetres each way. Impressive :-)
They すぐに put that ability to use in the Planning 控訴, where they pinned me 負かす／撃墜する in a 実験（する） machine and spent half an hour moving me about and making さまざまな 示すs on the 爆撃する, to 確実にする that they could get me 支援する into that same position repeatably. You can see these 示すs in the picture; the red 輪郭（を描く） is the 治療 area. The 黒人／ボイコット cross on the white background is the NRP - Neck 言及／関連 Point - which is used to position me 正確に.
治療
Start of Week 1
I started my 放射線療法 course today. Here's the "before" photo, warts and all :-) I'll 地位，任命する a new one each week to 文書 any changes. The most obvious 味方する-影響 will be to my 肌; I 心配する ending up with a very bad 事例／患者 of sunburn. However, I'm told this will only begin to appear after two weeks.
Just in 事例／患者 it's not obvious: the 治療 is to the 権利 味方する of my neck, the one with the scars.
Start of Week 2
Here's what I look like after one week. There's not too much difference from last week. It's not sore yet, although I am now "aware" of my neck during the day, if you see what I mean.
At the beginning of this week, most of the 爆撃する in the 治療 area was 削減（する） away, leaving only 十分な to make sure it keeps its 正直さ. This is because the 爆撃する slows 負かす／撃墜する the beam, 原因（となる）ing more of the 放射（能） to 影響する／感情 the 肌. So I can 推定する／予想する the pattern of remaining 爆撃する parts to appear on the 肌 in the form of darker areas.
I've been given さまざまな bits of advice about taking care of my 肌. One of them was "use an electric かみそり; don't wet shave". (推定では that's before the hair stops growing!) So I bought a 殴打／砲列-力／強力にするd electric shaver. Where have these things been all my life? They are so convenient. I can stop 支払う／賃金ing the Gillette 税金 every few months. :-)
Remember, folks, if you go into a 商売／仕事 giving away the かみそりs and selling the blades, watch out for the person who invents the bladeless かみそり...
Start of Week 3
Two weeks gone, and the redness is beginning to be noticeable. I can now see the 輪郭（を描く） of the 治療 area on my chest. This is most obvious on the part out of 発射, but you can ばく然と see the line coming over my shoulder and 負かす／撃墜する past my adam's apple.
Oh, and I've had a haircut :-) I 人物／姿／数字d it was best to have one before the area got too sore.
Start of Week 4
Two images today, for your 見解（をとる）ing 楽しみ - as you can see, the rather 正確な nature of the beam has resulted in the hair on the 支援する of my neck 落ちるing out in a very defined pattern. It's also easier to see the 肌 redness on that photo, 特に on the lower half of my ear and the lower part of the 支援する. I 推定する／予想する to lose the 残り／休憩（する） of the hair in that 地域 (and on my chin on that 味方する) in 公正に／かなり short order; the question now is: do I shave the other 味方する to match? :-)
I had a minor sore throat this week, which started on Monday but has, rather surprisingly, got a bit better as the week goes on. It's rather 半端物 having the sore throat feeling on the 味方する rather than at the 支援する! In theory, my windpipe is just outside the beam; perhaps I was lying wrong for a couple of days and the 辛勝する／優位 of it caught a dose. Still, something else to be thankful for.
I've realised that taking photos at the beginning of the week doesn't give a 特に good understanding of what's happening, because that's the moment when the 味方する 影響s are least, because things get better over the 週末. I should really be taking them on Friday afternoon. Oh, 井戸／弁護士席. I've started this way so I'll finish.
Start of Week 5
This 始める，決める was taken after my first 治療 of the week; so you can see a bigger difference than you might 推定する／予想する between these photos and the previous ones. Almost all the hair in the 治療 area has fallen out; what's left is short and has been turned blonde by the 過程. The 支援する of my ears are starting to go very red; it's places like that, where the 肌 倍のs, where 割れ目ing happens first.
The uneven ニュース報道 you can see on the 前線 is 予定 to the plastic mask; the 肌 tends to get redder in places where the mask has not been 削減（する） away, because the mask slows the beam 負かす／撃墜する, 原因（となる）ing more of the 放射（能） to 影響する／感情 the 肌. Or so I'm told.
Start of Week 6
This is me this morning, before I went for the first of my last five 治療s.
If you look carefully on the 前線, you can see an inward jag of about 3mm in the vertical red line 負かす／撃墜する the middle of my neck. That's 現実に 代表者／国会議員 of the actual 形態／調整 of the aperture; they put in an extra slice of lead 保護物，者ing there to try and 減ずる the dose my windpipe gets. As you can also see, it's not square at the 底（に届く） left (as you look at it) corner; again, they put in 保護物，者ing there to try and 避ける irradiating the 最高の，を越す of my 肺 too much.
The lighting's not brilliant, but you can just about see that the 治療 area comes up on my jawline. Again, perhaps because of the 保護物，者, the 辛勝する／優位 of that area along my jaw is redder than the part すぐに inside it.
More of the hair seems to have fallen out 隣接する to the 治療 場所／位置, leaving a white 国境 - I'm not sure why that is. Maybe it's getting a 部分的な／不平等な dose 予定 to beam diffraction - enough to kill the hair over time, but not enough to turn the 肌 red.
The general 条件 of my 肌 has started to go downhill; the nurses tell me to 推定する／予想する it to break 負かす／撃墜する and 割れ目 this week, behind the ear or in the crease in my neck, or both. The 影響s continue for a few weeks after the 治療 itself ends (this coming Friday) so I'll keep 地位，任命するing pictures to 文書 that.
I'm still not 苦しむing from any tiredness or nausea, 賞賛する God, and the sore throat hasn't returned.

Afterwards
Start of Week 7
These were taken this morning, the first day I didn't have 治療, if you see what I mean. On about Thursday last week, the 肌 started to break 負かす／撃墜する and the 最高の，を越す 層 began to come off in the areas most 影響する／感情d. You can see the red raw areas 明確に on the shoulderblade.
Before this point, it didn't really 傷つける - now, in the areas where my 肌's 神経s 港／避難所't been 厳しいd by previous 操作／手術s, it is getting rather sore. I've been given hydrogel to put on, 加える I'm continuing to use aqueous cream (I switched from E45 at a nurse's 推薦 about a week ago) on the 無傷の areas. On 最高の，を越す of that, I have "Geliperm" hydrating sheets, then a pad to 持つ／拘留する them in place and a 包帯 or silk scarf tied on 最高の，を越す of all of that.
The 示すs where the 爆撃する was not 削減（する） away - the deeper red lines - are becoming very obvious on the 前線. (The 支援する is uniform because the 爆撃する only covered the 前線.) I was 許すd to take the 爆撃する home as a souvenir.
Start of Week 8
I've made really good 進歩 this week. Up until my 任命 on Thursday, I was still wearing the Geliperm and so on, but then they changed it for something はしけ. Most of the 最高の，を越す 層 of 肌 has peeled off on the 最高の，を越す of the shoulder, but what's left is in good 形態／調整 and the redness is fading 急速な／放蕩な. It's going to be a little while before the hair grows 支援する, though.
People keep asking me when I'll know whether all this trouble and inconvenience did any good - the answer to which, of course, is 'not until the Second Coming'. If the 癌 doesn't come 支援する in that area, 井戸／弁護士席 it might not have anyway. And if it does, 井戸／弁護士席 it might have come 支援する earlier without the 治療. Or it might not. It's impossible for us to tell. I might be tempted to despair, if I didn't know that a loving, 判決，裁定 God who cares about me 本人自身で was watching over the whole thing...
