Usability

Usability

I have a strong 利益/興味 in usability and 使用者 interface design, although I don't have much chance to 演習 it these days, so all of this is rather old.

Mozilla 事業/計画(する)

I've made the に引き続いて UI 提案s:

Cross Rhythms Direct

Cross Rhythms is a Christian 無線で通信する 駅/配置する, broadcasting on 衛星 and as a 地元の 無線で通信する licensee in Stoke-on-Trent, England. They also publish an eponymous magazine, and have a direct CD sales arm called Cross Rhythms Direct. I was 招待するd to do a usability 熟考する/考慮する on CR Direct a few months after its 開始する,打ち上げる. This is a わずかに edited 見解/翻訳/版, as a 見本 of the sort of work I do in this area.

For those who don't want to read the entire 熟考する/考慮する, you can compare the 場所/位置 as it was then, and the mockups I produced:

Old 前線 Page --> My 前線 Page --> What They Did
Old Search Results --> My Search Results --> What They Did

British Rail 時刻表/予定表 Search

The British Rail 時刻表/予定表 search recently got "昇格d"; unfortunately, the usability, which wasn't 広大な/多数の/重要な in the 初めの, was downgraded at the same time. Having been 失望させるd trying to use the new 見解/翻訳/版, I sent them a (perhaps somewhat curt) short usability 分析 and 代案/選択肢 design. 独立して, a few days later, The 登録(する) published a piece, 公式文書,認めるing a number of 付加 problems, and it was subsequently 選ぶd up by NTK. Since that publicity, a few deckchairs have been 配列し直すd, but sadly the Titanic is still 沈むing.

My friend Alan 独立して (機の)カム to the same 結論 and also wrote 網状組織 Rail (or Railtrack, or whatever they are called) a letter of his own. He makes several 付加 points not covered in my or The 登録(する)'s 分析.

For those of you who are as sick of the interface as I am, Matthew Somerville has done a much better 見解/翻訳/版.

Update November 2005: The BR 場所/位置 is now much better; but the www.traintimes.org.uk URL is still easier to remember. :-)
