Introduction:

If you are looking for ways to use computers in sensing and 支配(する)/統制する 使用/適用s, this page may 利益/興味 you. You don't need to be a programmer of electronics engineer... but if you are either, you'll be able to do more with the 装置 I'm going to discuss.

In late May 05, I 得るd a Poseidon SNMP 温度計. Don't let any of that 脅す you!

It can do MORE than the に引き続いて, but let's start with something simple:

You can put the Poseidon where-ever you want... as long as you can get a LAN 関係 to it from a PC. I believe that as long as that PC is on the internet, and you 始める,決める things up accordingly, you can also 接近 the Poseidon from any internet 終点. I believe there are 準備/条項s to password 保護する 接近 to the 装置.

Not too shabby! But there's more. Besides reading one or more 気温s and / or 湿度s through the Poseidon, you can also read the 明言する/公表する of 3 数字表示式の inputs. (They 報告(する)/憶測 "0" if there's no 関係, and "1" if connected, by a switch, for instance, to a ありふれた 終点 on the Poseidon. In other words, the 装置 looks at 抵抗, not voltage to "see" whether the input is high or low.) Last, not least, if you make 確かな unremarkable choices in 尊敬(する)・点 of which 気温 sensors you 任命する/導入する, you can have two 数字表示式の 生産(高)s, too!!

This page is still 存在 developed. I hope you find what is already here useful, but be 保証するd that it will be fleshed out in the weeks to come. There is excellent (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) at the website of the 製造業者, HWgroup.

You can interact with the 装置 several ways. The simplest 大勝する is 簡単に to point an internet browser at the 装置's IP 演説(する)/住所. It has a built in web server, and will return a page 報告(する)/憶測ing the 明言する/公表する of the さまざまな sensors.

The server will also 送信する/伝染させる xml if you ask it nicely. You can see a Poseidon in Prague in 操作/手術 on your browser 経由で the link from the 製造業者's website.

I'm afraid.. but have not yet fully checked... that the Poseidon's serial port is NOT 有能な of everything HWgroup's I/O 監査役's serial port can do... which is a lot! The serial port on the Poseidon seems to be 献身的な to 体制/機構 and to interfacing with 確かな 気温 sensors.


Uses:

The Poseidon can be used 簡単に to 観察する 気温s, 湿度s and things which can be turned into an "on / off" switch. It can also be used as part of a more コンビナート/複合体 使用/適用 which, without human 介入, checks the 明言する/公表する of things connected to the Poseidon and 反応するs and / or 記録,記録的な/記録するs the data. The Poseidon has two bits of 生産(高), depending on what sensors you choose to use. Alternatively, there are other 装置s, from HWgroup, and others, which give you ways to send 生産(高)s across a LAN.

The Poseidon supports さまざまな 気温 and 湿度 sensors. I find the 1-Wire DS18B20 and DS18B22 気温 sensors of 利益/興味. You can put 10 of them on a Poseidon. (And, of course, you can have many Poseidons on a LAN.) HWgroup sells these sensors on made-up cables, or you can 建設する your own sensor arrays. They 要求する two or three wires (Two will do. Some 使用者s say that you get better results if you 供給(する) 5 volts to a pin which is さもなければ tied to 0v.) The 装置s should be connected one after the other along a 選び出す/独身 cable, with only short "刺激(する)s". In other words, a 星/主役にする topology will いつかs misbehave. HWgroup 示唆する a 最大限 cable length of 10m. I have seen 1-Wire 半導体素子s work over much longer distances, but to 達成する reliablilty you may have to 支払う/賃金 attention to other things. (I have a simple chain of 3 力/強力にするd DS1820s running happily on a cable which is 36m (120 ft) long.) As you may have guessed, I have pages about the Dallas 1-Wire (aka MicroLan) 製品 line. Making it work:

Turn all of the Poseidon's DIP switches to the off position.

Connect the Poseidon to your LAN. (See below for "Configuration 経由で Serial")

The Poseidon is one of a family of 装置s from HWgroup. You may want to read my page 演説(する)/住所ing some 株d points.

Then run HerculesSetup, 供給するd with the 装置. It is a stand-alone 使用/適用, 供給するd in ready-to-run form. Running it won't suddenly 開始する,打ち上げる 5 minutes of GOKW, 任命する/導入するing things の上に your system.

When HerculesSetup starts, you say "承認する" to the 条件. Then the main HerculesSetup page appears. Click "Find 装置s". Your Poseidon's MAC should appear. It is also on the base of the 部隊. Click on the MAC, and the edit boxes for all the parameters of the 装置 will fill. You need to 公式文書,認める the IP 演説(する)/住所 and the port. You can change them now, if you feel the need and know what you are doing. Shut 負かす/撃墜する HerculesSetup.

解雇する/砲火/射撃 up your browser. If your Poseidon's IP 演説(する)/住所 was 192.168.6.40, then enter http://192.168.6.40 into your browser's 演説(する)/住所 box. Click Go.

すぐに thereafter, a page should appear on your 審査する, showing the 明言する/公表する of the inputs. There will also be a section for the 気温(s) 現在の at the sensors you have plugged into the 装置... but see below, "気温 Sensing".

Request http://192.168.6.40/temper.xml if you want the xml 報告(する)/憶測.

(Configuration 経由で serial: I'm not sure why you'd want to do it this, the hard, way... but if you do: 力/強力にする off the 装置. Put DIP switch 1 "on" (others off). Connect PC and Poseidon by serial port. 解雇する/砲火/射撃 up Hyperterminal or 類似の in PC. I think the "serial" page of HerculesSetup is as good, but 港/避難所't used it much.. 力/強力にする up Poseidon. You should get a 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる) from the Poseidon of what it can 答える/応じる to. 公式文書,認める that the SV:1 (or SV:0) 命令(する) seems to "work", but even with NVT "enabled", you don't seem to have one when you subsequently try to use it.)

気温 sensing:

You have to 始める,決める up the 装置, tell it to 登録(する) the 気温 sensors you have 大(公)使館員d, before the webpage について言及するd above will 報告(する)/憶測 気温s. How to do it is explained in the 手動式の. When I was getting to know the Poseidon, the 手動式の was only in Czech, which was an adventure, but it is now 利用できる from the website in English, and a second 版 is in 生産/産物 at 16 June 05. (If you want to have the "fun" I did, you can use the Czech 手動式の! I don't read Czech, but if you look at the 手動式の with a very 肯定的な 態度*, there's a lot you can glean from it... many of the illustrations and all of the Poseidon-生成するd dialogs are in English. The I/O 監査役 手動式の (English 見解/翻訳/版) can also be a help because the two 装置s 株 some features.)

Attach your sensors. 解雇する/砲火/射撃 up HerculesSetup. Do the basic stuff (IP 演説(する)/住所, mask) if you 港/避難所't already done it. Be sure that "Enable TCP 体制/機構" is ticked on the main page. Then click the "TCP 体制/機構 Configuration" button. 圧力(をかける) enter for the 使用者 id. 圧力(をかける) enter for the password. Don't worry about the "限られた/立憲的な functionality" message. 圧力(をかける) "y" and enter, as the 誘発する tells you to. 圧力(をかける) "h" for help, if you wish. (If you click in the 覚え書き with the answer, you can scroll it 支援する to see things which went off the 審査する). If all you want is to 登録(する) your sensors, 圧力(をかける) "1", assuming you using 1-Wire 気温 sensors. 確認する that you want to configure for 1-Wire sensors. The 装置 then looks to see what 気温 sensors it can find. 圧力(をかける) X. Shut 負かす/撃墜する HerculesSetup. 解雇する/砲火/射撃 up your web browser. Point it at your Poseidon. You should see 気温s! (If you disconnect your sensors at some later date, turn the Poseidon off, re-attach them, turn it on. It should "find" them again without needing the 体制/機構 手続き.)

*Going 支援する to that "read with 肯定的な 態度" 商売/仕事....

I've given away most of the secrets of getting the lovely thing working... but if you fancy an adventure, don't hesitate to delve into the Czech 手動式の... you may be surprised by how often you can make useful guesses. Hey! You're a computer person. You can solve puzzles! Remember, there is an English 見解/翻訳/版 if you want it. Maybe you have いっそう少なく time to "play" than I do? 数字表示式の 生産(高)s


Until 見解/翻訳/版 1.9.x of the firmware comes out, the only way to turn the 生産(高)s on or off is by using SNMP. From 1.9.x, it is hoped that the 生産(高)s will be controllable by .xml. There are two 生産(高)s, both operating at RS-232 levels. If you are new to such things, be a little careful. You can't connect the 生産(高)s 直接/まっすぐに to, say, a モーター... but making drivers to go between the 生産(高)s and what you want to 支配(する)/統制する is not hard. Use opto-isolators if you are new. The 生産(高)s are on the same port that you would use for some types of sensor, but 1-Wire and some other sensors can be used at the same time as the 生産(高)s.




Support ソフトウェア and documentation



As I said above, you can 接近 the 装置 through the same browser you are using to read this. (After a little bit of work with the 解放する/自由な HerculesSetup, to find or alter the 装置's IP 演説(する)/住所, and to "turn on" the 気温 sensors.)

Besides the other things 明言する/公表するd or 暗示するd above, you may want to know the に引き続いて....

You don't need to master SNMP (Simple 網状組織 管理/経営 議定書)to use the Poseidon!! But if you do master it, lots of new 適切な時期s will open up. The 部隊 can send SNMP 罠(にかける)s, or 服従させる/提出する to 尋問 by SNMP 管理/経営 道具s. Three freeware SNMP 道具s come with the 装置. (SNMPView, Getif, and SNMPTrap.) I have done a page on how to use these with the Poseidon.

SNMP is not the only way to intereact with the 装置. There are programming 見本s illustrating using the 装置. They are 利用できる in Borland C++, Delphi, Visual Basic, Java, PHP. You can interact with the 部隊 経由で Modbus/TCP, html, xml.

I have 接近d the I/O 監査役 from HWgroup with a Delphi program of my own 収集するing. The Poseidon is built around the same engine, the Charon, so I hope to 報告(する)/憶測 結局 on a Poseidon 明確な/細部 Delphi interface. In the 合間, there's more about my other program at my page about the I/O 監査役.

I have created a working, if 限られた/立憲的な, program which スピードを出す/記録につけるs 気温 or 湿度 sensor data from a Poseidon. First, 始める,決める it up so that yuo get sensible results from the temper.xml age with your browser. When that's working, use the program you can download from here as an unzipped exe, ready to run. (A .zip とじ込み/提出する with the source code is also 利用できる.)

The program is NOT meant to be a "perfect" 使用/適用... but it will スピードを出す/記録につける data from 1-7 sensors. The 装置 should be 始める,決める to 報告(する)/憶測 気温s in Fahrenheit, but if you use Celcius, that's okay... there will just be some bad labels.

I have also created a working, if 限られた/立憲的な, program which 許すs you to use a Poseidon with two 気温 sensors as the heart of a differential theremostat. Click here to download unzipped exe, ready to run. いつか soon, you will find a tutorial about the program, with 完全にする sourcecode.

The program is NOT meant to be a "perfect" 使用/適用... but it will 始める,決める the RTS 生産(高) on or off, depending on the difference between the 気温s seen by two 気温 sensors. You could use this, for instance, to keep the 最高の,を越す of an atrium from becoming very hot compared to the 気温 in the lower parts of the atrium. You can select the 気温 difference which is needed before the fan goes on. The 装置's SNMP 令状 community should be "私的な", if you want to use this program. (It is "私的な" by default.) the 装置 should also be 始める,決める to 報告(する)/憶測 気温s in Fahrenheit, but if you use Celcius, that's okay... there will just be some bad labels.

As について言及するd above, you will need to 供給する 金物類/武器類 to use RTS 生産(高) to switch fan on/off. The RTS signal is on port 2, pin 7. The "DTR" 生産(高) is also switchable 経由で buttons on the program (PoseiDiffStat). The DTR signal is on port 2, pin 4. The ground for DTR and RTS is on port 2, pin 5.

When PoseiDiffStat starts, these settings are 始める,決める again.

DTR: ON (+3 .. +15V)
RTS: OFF (-3 .. -15V)

陳謝s for giving you the (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) on PoseiDiffStat rather 貧しく, and for the rough 辛勝する/優位s in the program itself... but the program and 指示/教授/教育s are 解放する/自由な, after all!
