You may find that the database 存在 shipped with OpenOffice (ver.2 and higher) delights you as much as it has me. This page tries to help you use it.
Forget anything you may have heard about Adabas, which (機の)カム with 星/主役にする Office, the 商業の 見解/翻訳/版 of Open Office 1. The 現在の Open Office's database, "Base", aka "ooBase", is 関係のない. And remember that Open Office, 含むing ooBase, is 解放する/自由な! But don't let that fool you. And it's not new. Big organizations, 政府 and 非軍事の, are 可決する・採択するing it as their 基準 office 控訴... and saving million$, but still Getting The 職業 Done.
There's more about ooBase in the main 索引 to this 構成要素.
This page is "browser friendly". Make your browser window as wide as you want it. The text will flow nicely for you. It is easier to read in a 狭くする window. With most browsers, 圧力(をかける)ing 加える, minus or 無 while the 支配(する)/統制する 重要な (ctrl) is held 負かす/撃墜する will change the texts size. (大きくする, 減ずる, 回復する to default, それぞれ.) I am an amateur 株式市場 投資家. I buy and sell 株.
Put 簡単に, what I want to do is buy a company when its 株 are cheap, and 持つ/拘留する those 株 for many years while their value rises, I hope faster than インフレーション. While I 持つ/拘留する the 株, it is nice if the company 支払う/賃金s a (株主への)配当.
From time to time, other 投資家s "go crazy" and are willing to 支払う/賃金 me much more than 株 I own are 価値(がある). So I 交流 my 株 for their money.
井戸/弁護士席. That's the 計画(する), anyway.
Sadly, not only do prices not always read the 調書をとる/予約する I've written, but also 政府s like to 徴収する 税金s.
To stay on 最高の,を越す of what I own, and in order that I may 準備する the necessary 人物/姿/数字s for 税金 支払い(額)s, I 持続する a database in 関係 with my 投資するing activities.
There are many, many ways you could 始める,決める up such a database. The に引き続いて isn't "the 権利 way" to do it. Read what follows not for "the answer", but for the discussion of why the different elements of my system are there.
====
I am going to tamper with reality somewhat in what follows. So when I say "I have two 仲買業 accounts", you can read that as if it were true, but don't be too sure that is 正確に/まさに true. While this 事例/患者 熟考する/考慮する is ひどく based on reality, and many inconvenient 半端物s and ends from the real world will intrude to make things "利益/興味ing", I am going to 簡素化する things a little, to 減ずる the clutter.
Un-avoidable "little wrinkles" arise in reality which make simple answers to an 投資家's needs 不十分な. Some of them should become (疑いを)晴らす as this essay 進歩s.
My first pre-conception is that computers are weak timorous beasties, and not to be 信用d.
Thus I have a 処理/取引 スピードを出す/記録につける, 署名/調印する on paper. If the computer and all my backups die, I should be able to 再建する everything from that. Every 購入(する), every sale gets 記録,記録的な/記録するd there. And a lot more besides. If 投資するing were as simple as just buying 100 株 of XYZ today and selling them five years from now, I'd be a very happy camper. It isn't that simple... even if you have 魔法 answers to the questions of when and what you should buy or sell.
But, having said that, 記録,記録的な/記録するs of 購入(する)s and sales are at the heart of it all.
Every month, when my 仲買業 account 声明s arrive, I get out the 処理/取引 スピードを出す/記録につける, and enter a 記録,記録的な/記録する (a line of (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状)) on that for every 処理/取引 関連した to my 現在進行中の positions. I'll give examples in a moment.
From time to time, I 解雇する/砲火/射撃 up the computer, and enter those 処理/取引s into a database inside the computer. Once that data has been entered, the computer saves me hours of work by pulling out (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) that is useful to me.
One of the main 推論する/理由s for the database is that it 許すs me to 生成する a printout of my 現在の holdings. It might look like the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する below. The first column "指名するs" companies, using their "ticker symbol", the 投資 産業 基準 "codes" for the companies. Many, e.g. "IBM" are obvious. Others, e.g. "TEU", which was the ticker for Canadian 太平洋の Shipping, have more obscure origins. And some are delightfully whimsical, e.g. "デオキシリボ核酸" for Genentech, one of the big biotech 会社/堅いs. But I digress.
The "PIB" column 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる)s how many 株 of that company I have in one of my 仲買業 accounts, which I'm pretending is at a fictitious 会社/堅い called Putnam 投資家's Bank, and the "OBF" column is for the 株 I have at my other account, with "Other 仲買業 会社/堅い".
First word of 知恵: 避ける o's and i's and l's in abbreviations. They make sense to you at the time you choose them.... and then later you start putting 無s where a letter "oh" should be, ones where a letter "ell" or "注目する,もくろむ" is needed.
Another word of 知恵: Where a database is going to have a bunch of 入ること/参加(者)s for something like the two accounts I've got, give them 指名するs that start with different letters. Under this 支配する, it would have been a Bad Idea for me to identify the two accounts as "AcPIB" and "AcOIB". (It slows 負かす/撃墜する sorting 操作/手術s for a start.)
見本 of my "Holdings" 報告(する)/憶測....
Company PIB OBF ------- --- --- ABD - 93 BAC 200 - CSCO 500 300 (I wish!) デオキシリボ核酸 50 - FO 100 -
That will 十分である to continue our discussion.
A digression:
My 記録,記録的な/記録する keeping operates on two levels.
I have 比較して up to date 記録,記録的な/記録するs at one level, but that (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) isn't as reliable as the (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) 利用できる the other way. The いっそう少なく up to date 見解/翻訳/版 is more likely to be 正確に/まさに 権利.
It 作品 like this....
Once in a while I do a fresh printout of my holdings. I.e. I regenerate the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する I just showed you. That (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する, henceforth, is called XTAB, for "Cross-一覧表にするd (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する of holdings".
Then, 必然的に, something happens. Let's say I buy some more BAC for PIB (by which I mean "my account at Putnam 投資家s Bank"). Or sell some of the AIG.
Within a few days of requesting the 処理/取引, I'll receive an 署名/調印する-on-paper 確定/確認 of the 貿易(する) from the 仲買人.
Once that 文書 arrives....
1) I'll make a manuscript 是正 to XTAB, with the date of the 処理/取引. In 関係 with this, I'll put an "X" on the 処理/取引 slip.
2) I'll enter the 処理/取引 in a whole OTHER system which I 持続する. (That other system is about 監視するing my 投資 success, and about 記録,記録的な/記録するing my 推論する/理由s for 購入(する)s, sales, and... 平等に important... the times I didn't buy or sell something. In 関係 with this, I'll put a "P" on the 処理/取引 slip. ("P" for Personal 在庫/株 監視する, the program I use for this work.)
3) I'll make a 是正 to my informal, every-day-use 記録,記録的な/記録する of the cash I have in the account. In 関係 with this, I'll put a "C" on the 処理/取引 slip.
The slip is then put with the 処理/取引 スピードを出す/記録につける. When that 処理/取引 appears on a 声明, the numbers are cross checked, and the slip moves on to long-称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 貯蔵. (I've needed 10 year old slips before now... usually in 関係 with class 活動/戦闘 控訴s. I 単に とじ込み/提出する them in envelopes 示すd with the 範囲 of dates the slips in that envelope 含む/封じ込めるs. 適する for the needs that arise.) The slips also 供給する a 二塁打 check that I've 抽出するd all 関連した 処理/取引s from the 仲買人 声明s. There tends to be "noise" in those 声明s, which can lead to important items getting overlooked.
So... what does the 処理/取引 スピードを出す/記録につける look like?

Date: When it happened
Co: Company 伴う/関わるd
株: How many 株 追加するd (+ve) or lost (-ve)
From: The source of the 株....
bou: I bought them from someone
pib: The (機の)カム from my holdings at Putnam 投資家's Bank
分裂(する): They arose from a "在庫/株 分裂(する)"... see below
spin: They arose from a "spin off"... see below
To: Where the 株 went.....
pib/ obf: My accounts, at Putnam 投資家's Bank or Other 仲買業 会社/堅い
sold: I sold them to someone
Get a cup of coffee. We're about to go through the example 処理/取引s, and it will be tedious... but necessary. Don't skim!
1/1/04 IBM: A nice simple one. I bought 100 株. They cost me, 含むing 料金s, etc, $8108.78 Notice that is entered as a 肯定的な number. Think of it as my account is 価値(がある) more, so the number is 肯定的な.
1/2/04 CSCO: Another nice simple one. I sold some Cisco. I was paid 26490.27 for them. Notice that is entered as a 消極的な number. Although I've received cash, my 在庫/株 holdings have gone 負かす/撃墜する.
2/2/04: IBM "宣言するd a 2 for 1 分裂(する)". Companies "宣言する 分裂(する)s" from time to time. If it is a "2 for 1" 分裂(する), then for every 株 you held before the 分裂(する), you are given a new one. Don't get excited. Each 株 is 価値(がある) half of what the pre-分裂(する) 株 were 価値(がある). And your (株主への)配当 per 株 will be 削減(する) in half. Don't worry, though... if you were getting 10 cents a 株 on 100 株, you were getting $10. Now you will be getting 5 cents a 株 on 200 株... still $10. 分裂(する)s are used to keep a company's 株 price at a reasonable level.
2/4/04: The two lines about IBM on this date are a rather clever way to 記録,記録的な/記録する the fact that I moved the 株 from my account with Putnam 投資家s Bank to my other account, the one with Other 仲買業 会社/堅い. Just read what the lines say... the first says that the number of 株 at PIB went 負かす/撃墜する by 200, and the second says that the number of 株 at OIB went up by 200. This is a cousin of 二塁打 入ること/参加(者) 調書をとる/予約する-keeping. Seems a bit 半端物 at first, maybe... but it 作品!
1/1/05: I bought some FO (Fortune Brands) this is here to 可能にする....
8/17/05: In the real world, on that date, for every 100 株 of FO that anyone held, they were given 23.5018 株 of a new company called Acco Brands, ticker "ABD". That is the actual date and numbers.
Now... no one 現実に received the わずかの 株. But it 作品 better to 令状 things up as if they were received. I 現実に received 23 whole 株, and (we'll call it) $11.00 "cash in lieu", in lieu of the わずかの 株 I was する権利を与えるd to.
What you see in the 処理/取引 (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する is all you need to 跡をつける things 適切に so far. Spin offs are a 苦痛 in the neck, and more consequences will be discussed later in this essay, but for now, that's most of what you need.
Where did ABD come from? The company was created out of things that were 以前 part of FO. Another example of a spin off that's easier to 認める is the break up of Rolls Royce. Years ago, there was one company, and some 分割s made cars, while others made 航空機 engines. 結局, the board of directors decided that the two 分割s has so little in ありふれた that it made sense to break the "cars+aero Rolls Royce" up into two separate companies. There was a delicious if absurd little squabble after the 分裂(する) up. The aero engine company's lawyers tried to say their company owned the brand, and that the cars couldn't be called "Rolls Royce" anymore. The squabble passed.
So! You've seen a bunch of 処理/取引s. They cover most of the things which arise.
From time to time, things happen to change the number of 株 I have in something, or where I have them. Every one of those events gives rise to a line in the 処理/取引 スピードを出す/記録につける. (Those lines will come from lines in my 声明s from the 仲買人s.)
When it 控訴s me, from time to time I 解雇する/砲火/射撃 up the computer and enter any new 処理/取引 スピードを出す/記録につける 入ること/参加(者)s into the "xactions" (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する (Which I will 言及する to as "Xactions" hereafter. Assume I mean the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する when you see that, with a 資本/首都 "X") of my 投資s 跡をつけるing database.
The 処理/取引s (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する has columns (fields) just like those in the 処理/取引 スピードを出す/記録につける. My data 入ること/参加(者) form has the columns in the same order as they appear in the 処理/取引 スピードを出す/記録につける, to 容易にするing data 入ること/参加(者).
Besides the columns from the 処理/取引s スピードを出す/記録につける, Xactions has the に引き続いて....
最初の/主要な 重要な: An 自動車 incrementing integer. It doesn't "mean" anything, but it is used by the database for さまざまな things.
Pool: An 12 character text field. What goes in it, we will discuss in a moment. First a word about 資本/首都 伸び(る)s 税金.
Whenever you make any money, the 政府 takes some 税金.
If you buy some 株 for $4000 and sell them for $6000, you have made $2000, and that income is called "資本/首都 伸び(る)s". And there's a 税金 on it. A 複雑にするd 税金. How much you 支払う/賃金 depends on how long you held the 在庫/株 between buying it and selling it. 税金 法律s change, and this is somewhat 簡単にするd, anyway, but at one time, in 新規加入 you 追加するd up all of your 伸び(る)s on things you'd held for a year or いっそう少なく. Let's say that was $2000. You also worked out 資本/首都 LOSSES. For instance, if you bought something else for $10,000, but sold it for $9,500, then you had a $500 loss. And, for this example, we'll 規定する that you sold those 株 いっそう少なく than a year after buying them. ALSO in that 税金 year, we'll say that the total of your 資本/首都 伸び(る)s on things you'd held for more than a year (機の)カム to $4000 and that your long 称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 losses were $800.
There are 支配するs about how you 連合させる all those numbers... the 伸び(る)s of $2000 (short 称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語) and of $4000 (long 称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語) and the losses of $500 (short) and $800 (long). I won't trouble you with the exact 支配するs. But! Your losses, 経由で 決まり文句/製法s, could be, up to 確かな 限界s, be 始める,決める against your 伸び(る)s, and 減ずる your 税金s!
Thus it is important to know when you bought something, and for how much. That (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) can be a part of 決定/判定勝ち(する)s about selling things.
The "pool" field is necessary because of the next "wrinkle". The に引き続いて example uses "real" numbers.
Let's suppose you bought....
100 株 of IBM in January 2004 for $9500, and
100 株 in January 2006 for $8000.
If you'd 手配中の,お尋ね者 to sell 100 株 of IBM in September 2008, you would have received $12000, so it would be best to sell the 2004 株... only $2500 to 支払う/賃金 資本/首都 伸び(る)s 税金 on. If, however, you were selling in November 2008, when you would have been paid $8000, you might want to sell the 2006 株, if you had no 伸び(る)s to 始める,決める losses against.
It may seem silly to talk of "selling the 2004 株", or the "2008" 株... but you need to, even though, in your account the 株 all "look" alike, just as different dollar 法案s in your wallet look alike, 関わりなく when they went into your wallet.
It is for this sort of thing (and others) that the "pool" field 存在するs.
When 株 are bought, a new pool code is 生成するd for that "bunch" (or pool) of 株. I use....
That would make the pool for our 1/1/04 IBM 株 "ibm041". (If I make two or more 購入(する)s of the same 在庫/株 in the same month, in some 事例/患者s I put them in the same pool. If the price has changed radically, between the buys, I will 始める,決める up two pools by 追加するing a letter, e.g. "ibm041a" and "ibm041b".)
Nota Bene: Here is one of those little 一般に applicable gems I 約束d you: For coding dates, it is いつかs helpful to show the month with a 選び出す/独身 character. Things start 簡単に enough: 1,2,3... for January, February, March... But what about October, November, December? Just use a, b and c. Simple? Yes. And it even 作品! For some things. 在庫/株 pool id codes, for one.
From then on, each time something happens with 在庫/株 from the pool, the next "something" has the same "pool id" used for the "pool" field of that 記録,記録的な/記録する in the database.
So: the extra IBM 株 received 2/2/04 in the 分裂(する) get the same pool ID as the 株 bought 支援する on 1/1/04. They were the source of the new 株 of 2/2/04, so the new 株 are in the same pool.
When the FO was bought on 1/1/05, it would have been given a pool ID of "fo051". The ABD 株 from the FO spin off of 8/17/08 will ALSO have a pool id of "fo051". Again because the FO was the source of the ABD.
The pool codes are invaluable for some work connected with 決定するing 資本/首都 伸び(る)s or losses... which I hope to discuss another time.
We've pretty much finished the "putting in" part of the system. Once all that work has been done... and it needs to be done, if only to be on 最高の,を越す of what you've bought and sold, and received with 分裂(する)s and spin offs, then it is 比較して 平易な to get the computer to "tell you things".
その上に, the way we've done things, while not error proof, are at least error 抵抗力のある. And they let you trace 支援する how something (機の)カム to be... and thus perhaps 暴露する errors which have crept in. You'll never make something "unbreakable", but that doesn't mean you don't try to make it hard for mistakes to happen. And you try to make things susceptible to 修理s.
It would be much simpler just to keep a (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する showing your 現在の holdings. When you bought something, you'd 追加する it in. When you sold something, you'd take it out. But how, for instance, would you later look up how long you held something, for doing 資本/首都 伸び(る)s 税金 報告(する)/憶測ing? By the time you are 準備するing a 税金 return, the sale, and the change to your "在庫/株s I 現在/一般に Own" database could have been as much as a year ago.
Although the database 持つ/拘留するs "everything" that has ever happened, you aren't going to want to wade through all of that each time you need to check how many 株 you have of, say, IBM, at the moment.
恐れる not. The computer can run through the data for you, and 配達する up the (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) you need.
More on that another time!
I dislike 'fancy' websites with more 関心 for a flashy 外見 than for good content. For a pretty picture, I can go to an art gallery. Of course, an attractive 場所/位置 WITH content deserves 賞賛する... as long as that pretty 直面する doesn't cost download time. In any 事例/患者....
I am trying to 現在の this 構成要素 in a 判型 which makes it 平易な for you to USE it. There are two 面s to that: The way it is 分裂(する) up, and the way it is 地位,任命するd. See the main 索引 to this 構成要素 for more (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) about the way it is 分裂(する) up, and the way it is 地位,任命するd.
