You may find that the database 存在 shipped with OpenOffice (ver.2 and higher) delights you as much as it has me. This page tries to help you use it.

Forget anything you may have heard about Adabas, which （機の）カム with 星／主役にする Office, the 商業の 見解／翻訳／版 of Open Office 1. The 現在の Open Office's database, "Base", aka "ooBase", is 関係のない. And remember that Open Office, 含むing ooBase, is 解放する／自由な! But don't let that fool you. And it's not new. Big organizations, 政府 and 非軍事の, are 可決する・採択するing it as their 基準 office 控訴... and saving million$, but still Getting The 職業 Done.

This page is "browser friendly". Make your browser window as wide as you want it. The text will flow nicely for you. It is easier to read in a 狭くする window. With most browsers, 圧力（をかける）ing 加える, minus or 無 while the 支配（する）／統制する 重要な (ctrl) is held 負かす／撃墜する will change the texts size. (大きくする, 減ずる, 回復する to default, それぞれ.) DDE_______________

DDE, Dynamic Data 交流, is an 年輩の 科学（工学）技術... but that doesn't mean that it doesn't still have the 力／強力にする to help you Do What Needs To Be Done.

In anthropomorphic 条件, DDE 任命する／導入するs "a little pixie" in as many of your 文書s as you wish. The pixie has been told: "In this 文書, MyDocDest, here we want xxx from that other 文書, MyDocSource. It could be something as simple as the に引き続いて....

Suppose you had a "master 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）" of the telephone numbers of some 委員会 chairmen (and women). And suppose in other 文書s, you 手配中の，お尋ね者 to 特記する／引用する someone's telephone number.

The master 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる） is what I called MyDocSource above. If you just typed the phone number in other 文書s (多重の MyDocDests), then if someone's telephone number changed, you would need to go through all the 文書s, by 手渡す, 直す／買収する，八百長をするing the 入ること／参加（者）.

If, instead, in each of the MyDocDests, you had used DDE to pull a particular chairman's telephone number from the "master 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）", then all would be 井戸／弁護士席!

When you have all that working nicely, you say that MyDocSource (the "master 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）", in our example) is a DDE server, and the other 文書s, the MyDocDests, the 文書s fetching 構成要素 from the server 文書, are DDE （弁護士の）依頼人s.

I'm not going into the 詳細（に述べる）s here, but it can work 井戸／弁護士席, with a little care.

Let me also say that in this essay, we are only talking about simple, server- to- （弁護士の）依頼人 DDE. Perhaps some of the （民事の）告訴s you hear about DDE 存在 "unreliable" 茎・取り除く from the "extra bits" that people tried to bolt on, in particular ways for a （弁護士の）依頼人 to "poke" data 支援する, "upstream" at servers. (In the http://oooforum.org 古記録s, there were 嘆願s for help from people trying to use the "poke" feature. I don't know if their 問題／発行するs were 解決するd... and the 未来 of oooforum.org was uncertain in October 2017.)

This tutorial is, I 自白する, put together やめる quickly. Also, I have not made much use of DDE over the years.

But even so, if you are wanting to try DDE, I hope this will answer some of the questions for you. I hope that no serious errors have crept in... but if you find one, or if when you try what I 示唆する below, things don't go 井戸／弁護士席, I hope you will take the trouble to complain. It is 平易な to 接触する me. 現実に, I 調査するd DDE in the world of Open Office because I 手配中の，お尋ね者 to use it どこかよそで. I wasn't making the 進歩 I'd hoped, so thought I'd try Open Office's DDE, to see if I could learn something there. I 港／避難所't (yet!) solved the 問題／発行するs of 接近ing 非，不，無-Open Office 文書s as servers for Open Office DDE （弁護士の）依頼人s... but I believe it is possible, and hope someone will 令状 and tell me how someday!

In 新規加入 to this work on DDE within Open Office, I have done some work on 令状ing DDE servers and （弁護士の）依頼人s using Delphi. So far, though, I 恐れる no tutorial is 利用できる. If I understand things, neither 味方する of a conversation, （弁護士の）依頼人 or server, "cares" about how the other half of the conversation was created. This is one of the strengths of DDE.

My 実験s to date, in Open Office DDE, have been 制限するd to ooCalc. However, in my reading I have frequently come across 言及／関連s to using DDE with other Open Office 文書s as either the server or as the （弁護士の）依頼人. 反して you typically 株 the contents of a 独房 with DDE under ooCalc, there seem to be ways to 株 a section of an ooCalc worksheet, and ways to 株 "pieces" (sections, again) of ooWriter 文書s. I 嫌疑者，容疑者／疑う that things can be 株d from the excellent ooBase, too.

I believe that DDE is 基本的に a Windows 機械装置, but I also believe that 非，不，無- the- いっそう少なく something 類似の is built into the さまざまな Open Offices for the different 壇・綱領・公約s it runs on.

And I don't think that the mighty Excel can do what I am going to show you how to do in ooCalc. Ha!

How to create DDE servers and （弁護士の）依頼人s in Open Office

井戸／弁護士席! Enough introduction?

Not only is it pretty clever that ooCalc can do these things, but it does it "as 基準". There are no 追加する-ons to 任命する／導入する, nothing to "turn on."

Create a spreadsheet called "DDEserverInRoot" in the root of your C 運動. It may be possible to do these things in other folders, but for now do thing The 平易な Way.

In 独房 B9, sheet1, put "Hello" (without the 引用するs)

Now, leaving the first worksheet running, start a second worksheet, called what you like, saved where you like.

Put....

=DDE("soffice";"C:\DDEserverInRoot.ods";"Sheet1.B9")

...in one of the 独房s in the new worksheet. Presto! You should see "Hello". (You can leave out the "Sheet1." if you are referring to B9 on a simple worksheet which only uses the first page, and you 港／避難所't re-指名するd that first page.)

Leave the new worksheet (the "DDE （弁護士の）依頼人") running. Go 支援する to the first worksheet, the "DDE server". Change the contents of 独房 B9. Oh poo! The contents of the 独房 in the other worksheet didn't すぐに change... but click anywhere you like on the DDEClient worksheet, and as soon as it acquires 焦点（を合わせる）, the 独房 fetching data from the DDE Server will be updated. Pretty 冷静な／正味の, I'd say!

Save and の近くに the server worksheet.

Re-open the （弁護士の）依頼人 worksheet.

EVEN THOUGH THE OTHER FILE IS CLOSED, as you open the DDEClient worksheet, you are told of "links to other とじ込み／提出するs" and asked if you want them updated.... and if you say "yes", the （弁護士の）依頼人 worksheet fetches the "new" value from B9, inside the の近くにd とじ込み／提出する! Now THAT's COOL... and a bit more than what I understand DDE to entail, 厳密に speaking. But whatever you call it, it could be useful!

In circumstances explained in the openoffice.org 文書, the menu 命令（する） "Edit| Links" 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）s DDE links, and 許すs them to be 修正するd, manually updated or broken. What all that means, 正確に／まさに, I'm not 完全に sure... but it is something that anyone going その上の with DDE probably needs to sort out!
