You may find that the database 存在 shipped with OpenOffice (ver.2 and higher) delights you as much as it has me. This page tries to help you use it.

Forget anything you may have heard about Adabas, which （機の）カム with 星／主役にする Office, the 商業の 見解／翻訳／版 of Open Office 1. The 現在の Open Office's database, "Base", aka "ooBase", is 関係のない. And remember that Open Office, 含むing ooBase, is 解放する／自由な! But don't let that fool you. And it's not new. Big organizations, 政府 and 非軍事の, are 可決する・採択するing it as their 基準 office 控訴... and saving million$, but still Getting The 職業 Done.

This page is "browser friendly". Make your browser window as wide as you want it. The text will flow nicely for you. It is easier to read in a 狭くする window. With most browsers, 圧力（をかける）ing 加える, minus or 無 while the 支配（する）／統制する 重要な (ctrl) is held 負かす／撃墜する will change the texts size. (大きくする, 減ずる, 回復する to default, それぞれ.) To clone a database

Why would you want to?

さまざまな possible 推論する／理由s....

• To create a backup copy.
• To use an 存在するing database as a starting point for a new 事業／計画（する）, without 危険ing the 正直さ of the 存在するing database.
• To "逮捕（する）" and "凍結する" the 明言する／公表する of a 欠陥のある database, before doing その上の work. You then do that その上の work in one of the two copies. If the その上の work doesn't solve things, at least you can go 支援する to where you were before you tried your さまざまな ideas.

The bad news: You can't just copy the old database! 井戸／弁護士席, you can... that will 逮捕（する） the data, forms, etc of the old database... but the new one should then be "登録（する）d" with Open Office. Without that, some 前進するd features will work for you, and other things may be problematic. But don't worry... Big Brother isn't watching. This "登録（する）ing" isn't like 登録（する）ing at a web 場所／位置. Rather, it is "telling" the Open Office 取り付け・設備 on your PC about a database that Open Office modules there may want to 接近.

This tutorial was 精密検査するd in January 2010, and what is here seems to work 罰金 with OpenOffice 3.1.0 on a Windows XP system.

Using ordinary とじ込み／提出する 管理／経営 道具s....

• Make sure Base has nothing open before starting the に引き続いて.
• Create a new folder. For the sake of this 演習, call it FDB007. (I'm a little "folder crazy"... in fact, you will probably find that you only need one, or just a few, folders for your ooBase work. The ソフトウェア doesn't create the "群れているs" of とじ込み／提出するs that some ソフトウェア does. For a given database, even if it has 4 （米）棚上げする／（英）提議するs, 8 forms and 16 報告（する）／憶測s, you typically still have just one とじ込み／提出する, 拡張 .odb. But "divide and 征服する／打ち勝つ" is still a good 支配する, and maybe it is better to over-divide than to do too little!)
• Using the basic とじ込み／提出する 扱うing techniques of your operating system, copy the old .odb とじ込み／提出する from the old folder into the new folder. (Or, in the same folder, make a copy under the 指名する given below.) (For Windows you can do that as follows: Start 開始 Windows (not Internet) Explorer. (You can do that with WindowsKey-E.) If you've come here from my Open Office tutorial on using forms, 演習 負かす／撃墜する to the FDB004.odb. 権利 click. さもなければ, just 演習 負かす／撃墜する to the database you want to clone. Click "Copy". 権利 click someplace in the same pane, but not over a とじ込み／提出する's 指名する. Click "Paste", and you will get a copy of the とじ込み／提出する under the 指名する "Copy of FDB004.odb")
• 改名する it. For the "using forms" 演習, the new copy of FDB004.odb should be called FDB007.odb

That's the 平易な and obvious part done.

登録

At this point, we have a copy of the database under a different 指名する and/ or in a different 場所, be that 単に a different folder on the 初めの computer, or on a different computer

Although some things can be done with an unregistered database, I think it is best to 登録（する） it.

This "登録（する）ing" is not like 登録（する）ing as a 使用者 at a website... you don't need to be internet connected at all to "登録（する） the database". Each Open Office 取り付け・設備 持続するs a 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）, or "登録（する）" of databases. The 場所 of the database is held in the 登録（する）, and a "登録（する）d 指名する", which you might think of as an 偽名，通称 for the database. I 一般に use the とじ込み／提出する 指名する for the 登録（する）d 指名する, to 最小限に減らす my 混乱.

If you have an unregistered とじ込み／提出する on the computer, you need to start up ooBase (or any of the other Open Office modules, in fact, but you might 同様に open ooBase). You can even open ooBase using the as-yet-unregistered database. As usual, either of the ありふれた ways of starting an 使用／適用 can be used, vis...

Either...

1) Start ooBase. Use the "Open 存在するing database" 選択, and use the "Open" button. It lets you browse your 支援 蓄える／店. 二塁打 click on FDB007.odb when you've 演習d 負かす／撃墜する to it.

...or by...

2) 二塁打-click on "FDB007.odb" in the Windows Explorer window you may still have open. (代用品，人 a different とじ込み／提出する 指名する, of course, if you aren't using my recommended とじ込み／提出する 指名する!) This approach will only work, of course, if your とじ込み／提出する 協会s call for ooBase to run for .odb とじ込み／提出するs, which would be usual.

After either of the above, you should be looking at the usual ooBase main 事業／計画（する） 経営者／支配人 window. You can even open a （米）棚上げする／（英）提議する and edit the contents. But your database isn't, yet, 登録（する）d, unless you did it earlier- you only have to 登録（する） a given database once on each system it will be used on. Databases created from scratch can be 登録（する）d during their 初期の 創造, which I recommend. If you have a database that you did not 登録（する）, you can do it by the same 過程 as we are about to discuss. If you don't 登録（する） a database, some 前進するd features, おもに 関係のある to 統合するing the 操作／手術 of associated 文書s, will not work. And I wouldn't be surprised if other nuisances cropped up.

登録（する）ing the database is done within a section of the OpenOffice settings dialog.

On a Windows machine, you start by clicking on ooBase's menu item "道具s", and then clicking on "選択s"

On a Mac, which I don't use, can't help you with, I gather the "way in" is 経由で OpenOffice.org > Preferences

Whether you are on a Windows machine or a Mac, you should by now be looking at a dialog with a "tree" in a パネル盤 on the left, with 多重の 入ること／参加（者）s, に先行するd by a 加える 調印する (+) if the sub-tree is 崩壊（する）d, に先行するd by a minus 調印する (-) if the sub tree is 拡大するd, on 陳列する，発揮する. One of the 最高の，を越す level sections is "OpenOffice.org Base". (Go past the first one, labeled just "OpenOffice.org") If there's a + 調印する in 前線 of "OpenOffice.org Base", click it. Once you've done that you will see subsections. Click on Databases. The window, 肩書を与えるd "Create Database Link", that opens has a "New" button. Click it. You aren't asking to make a new database, 単に a new 入ること／参加（者） in the 登録（する） of databases. Browse to the database you are trying to 登録（する）. (The browsing window you will be in is labeled "Open", which isn't やめる what you're doing, but don't worry.) Click the "Open" button when you've selected the とじ込み／提出する you want to 登録（する）. That will 減少（する） you 支援する to the "Create Link" window. For "登録（する）d 指名する", 割り当てる something sensible, e.g. FDB007, and click Okay. (ooBase will stop you from accidentally giving the same 指名する to two databases.) Done! 登録（する）d! Whew. Much more easily done than 述べるd!

(Just before we move on: 削除するing とじ込み／提出するs from the 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる） of 登録（する）d databases does not 除去する the underlying とじ込み／提出するs on your hard レコード. Nor does 除去するing a とじ込み／提出する take that database off the 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる） of 登録（する）d databases. 削除するing is always dangerous, but if I were 掴むd by a fit of "tidy-itis", I would be inclined to shut 負かす／撃墜する ooBase, 削除する any .odb とじ込み／提出するs I really, really didn't need, and then 再開する ooBase, go into "道具s/選択s/ etc..." and 除去する the 指名するs from the 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる） of 登録（する）d databases.)

(Another aside: You may いつかs 遭遇（する） weird "とじ込み／提出する cannot be 削除するd" events. Be sure ooBase is shut 負かす／撃墜する when copying, moving, 改名するing, 削除するing database とじ込み／提出するs, and it may even 支払う／賃金 to 出口 the Quickstarter, which (in Windows) will 明らかにする／漏らす itself in the System Tray (lower 権利) if it is active... but I wouldn't bother unless things are 存在 weird.)
