You may find that the database 含むd in OpenOffice delights you as much as it has me. This page tries to help you use it.
Remember that Open Office, 含むing ooBase, is 解放する/自由な. Don't let that fool you, though. Big organizations, 政治の and 非軍事の, have 可決する・採択するd it as their 基準 office 控訴... and saving million$, but still Getting The 職業 Done. And making things 平易な for 使用者s on different 壇・綱領・公約s... Linux, Mac, Windows all spoken here!
There's more about ooBase in the main 索引 to this 構成要素. Adabas? 星/主役にする Office? 古代の history.
This page is "browser friendly". Make your browser window as wide as you want it. The text will flow nicely for you. It is easier to read in a 狭くする window. With most browsers, 圧力(をかける)ing 加える, minus or 無 while the 支配(する)/統制する 重要な (ctrl) is held 負かす/撃墜する will change the texts size. (大きくする, 減ずる, 回復する to default, それぞれ.) (This is fully explained, and there are more tips, at my 力/強力にする Browsing page.)

This "How To" will tell you a bit about finding 記録,記録的な/記録するs in a database by the contents of a field with date type data in it.
Of course, there are many ways to find a 始める,決める of 記録,記録的な/記録するs. This just shows you a bit of one... but やめる a good technique, at least!
We don't need more than one (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する for what we are going to do. And it doesn't have to be "clever". The に引き続いて will do....
(米)棚上げする/(英)提議する: DaInLives: Dates In Lives of (some) important people
(For now I'll 限定する my (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する to dates of deaths. An extra
field could be 追加するd to 旗 a 記録,記録的な/記録する as a death date or
birth date... but I am trying, for once, to keep things
simple!)
Fields:
ID: (最初の/主要な 重要な) Simple 自動車 incrementing integer. See I CAN be simple!
EventDate: data-type "date"
PersName: text. 指名する of person who died on given date.
Don't be tempted to call that field "Date". Using "everyday" words... 特に if they might be in use by Open Office... for 指名するs of anything you are created often ends in 涙/ほころびs. (不足などを)補う a new work by 連合させるing things that help you remember what the (独立の)存在 is for... like "EventDate" as a 指名する for the field to 持つ/拘留する the date of an event in the person's life. (I inadvertently used "Date" during the first pass through this, and things which "shouldn't" have worked, did... sort of. But when I changed the field 指名する to "EventDate", those things just didn't work. (Probably best.) An example of why you don't want to use "ordinary" words for 指名するs.
And here's some 見本 data. (Actual dates, by the way).
ID EventDate PersName
0 5 December 1791 Mozart, WA
1 28 July 1750 Bach, JS
2 14 April 1759 Handel, GF
3 9 August 1996 Whittle, F
4 28 July 2004 Crick, F
If you want to 現実に try things as we go along, create that (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する now, fill it with the 見本 data. 始める,決める the "判型 example" for the EventDate field to "30 December 1999".
While our database may have only 5 記録,記録的な/記録するs, you can, I 信用, imagine it as 存在 much larger? If it were larger, the 天然のまま "answers" below would become even more unsatisfactory, wouldn't they? If you only 手配中の,お尋ね者 to 跡をつける five people, you wouldn't need a database!
Let's pretend that you want to know if anyone died on 28 July 1750. Yes, a bit of a coincidence that you "just happened" to want to know about a date on which someone in our database died. 耐える with me. We're just getting started.
You could, of course 接近 the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する, and scroll around in it. You can even 始める,決める filters on what is 陳列する,発揮するd. Bad Idea, though.
A 天然のまま answer would be to put the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する's data in a form, sort it on the EventDate field, and scroll to July 1750. Pretty 天然のまま!
A query would be the next stop "up" from the ill advised 代案/選択肢 of just 接近ing the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する 直接/まっすぐに or the 天然のまま form-based "answer".
Just 始める,決める up a simple "広告 hoc" query, using the query wizard, and just 受託するing defaults almost everywhere. You do have to tell it which (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する to query, and what fields to put in the answer. You get a chance to 明示する some search 基準... but don't be tempted.
When you've got the query roughed out, re-open it in edit 方式. Try putting in "28 July 1750" in the "Criterion" 列/漕ぐ/騒動 for the "EventDate" column. Doesn't work, does it? Neither with nor without the 引用する 示すs. '28 July 1750' will work, though. Or #28 July 1750#. 'July 28 1750' will work, and even 'Jul 28 1750'.
'July 28 1750' will work ("Greater than July 28 1750")
One other thing about date 判型s. Cast your mind 支援する. Remember we put in a "判型 example" when we 始める,決める up the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する? That only 支配(する)/統制するs how the data 陳列する,発揮するs when 見解(をとる)d in the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する. It doesn't 決定する which 判型s are 許容できる or inferred when you are entering data. Thanks a lot, computer.
To tell you the truth, because dates are so hinky, I tend to 避ける the "date" data-type in the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議するs I make for myself. I'll either use separate fields for year, month and day, or enter a string based on yymmdd. (But I'm just weak. Real men fight every passing windmill.)
So.. assuming you want to 圧力(をかける) on with using "date" data-type data...
Suppose, for the sake of arguement, we 手配中の,お尋ね者 to see all 記録,記録的な/記録するs where the person died in the 1900s? 平易な!...
>#31/12/1899# and <#01/01/2000#
Not so 平易な. Suppose now that you want: "All the people who've died in the past 50 years."
What we need is something like ">Now-50 years"
The ">" for "greater than" is 平易な enough. The problems 嘘(をつく) in the "Now" and the "arithmetic".
The "Now" is pretty 平易な to 直す/買収する,八百長をする. Change one of the 記録,記録的な/記録するs in the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する to show the man dying today. (Be sure to move the cursor out of the 記録,記録的な/記録する's line, so that the change is written to the database.) Make the criterion for 陳列する,発揮するing a 記録,記録的な/記録する say Current_Date. The person 記録,記録的な/記録するd as dying today should be returned. If you run the same query tomorrow, without changing again the person's date of death, that person will no longer be part of the results of the query.
So! It might seem that ">(Current_Date-50 years)" in the criterion 列/漕ぐ/騒動 is what we need.
However: you won't get that to work, no 事柄 how you fiddle with all the things I fiddled with for an hour. Here's what you do instead to get what you want....
First you need to 追加する an extra field to the 報告(する)/憶測.
Try something nice and simple first. (My tutorial Putting Calculated Fields on Forms may be helpful, if you don't get the に引き続いて working easily.
For the "something simple", I'm going to 示唆する that you 追加する a column to the query that will 陳列する,発揮する the ID of the 記録,記録的な/記録する, 多重のd by three. All you need to do is to type... very carefully, matching 事例/患者 in 尊敬(する)・点 of field 指名するs...
DaInLives.ID*3
... into the "Field" 列/漕ぐ/騒動 of the query designer. (You can use the pull-負かす/撃墜する to 正確に type the "DaInLives.ID") Make sure that the "明白な" box is ticked... it will probably tick itself as you leave the "Field" box... and see that the query 作品. (除去する the "Current_Date" you had in the EventDate column, won't you?)
Nearly there!
You should see....
ID EventDate PersName "DaInLives"."ID" * 3 1 05/12/91 Mozart, WA 3 2 28/07/50 Bach, JS 6 3 14/04/59 Handel, GF 9 4 09/08/96 Whittle, F 12 5 25/10/12 Crick, F 15
Now, where you had "DaInLives.ID * 3", enter...
"DateDiff('yy',DaInLives.EventDate,Current_Date)"
What that says is: In this column, for each 記録,記録的な/記録する, work out the difference in date, in years ('yy'), between the date in the EventDate field (of this 記録,記録的な/記録する) and today's date (Current_Date)"
A bit long-winded... but marvelous! Isn't it? (I'm speaking of the 表現, not the tutorial, by the way. Also by the way... if not needed to 除去する ambiguity, which won't arise in a one (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する database, you can leave out the "DaInLives.".
And now, if you just want people who have died in the past 50 years, 追加する "<50" in the criterion 列/漕ぐ/騒動 for this column of the query design.
平易な when you know how.
Of course, you probably don't care 正確に/まさに how many years ago the person in question died, so un-tick the "明白な" box. The work will still be done, the 選択 of 記録,記録的な/記録するs will still take place... your 使用者s just won't see the column with the 人物/姿/数字s used to see how long ago the person died.
We were able to say things like "記録,記録的な/記録するs where the date of the event was いっそう少なく than 1/1/1900". All we had to do was put "<1/1/1900" in the criterion 列/漕ぐ/騒動 under the field 関心d.
Why couldn't we, in the same manner, say "いっそう少なく than 50 years before today"? Because we didn't have the years before today" number.... but we were able (easily) to get it! This 肉親,親類d of "trick" will be useful in many 状況/情勢s, not just in 事例/患者s 伴う/関わるing dates.
I dislike 'fancy' websites more 関心d with a flashy 外見 than for good content. For a pretty picture, I can go to an art gallery. Not everyone has 急速な/放蕩な broadband.
