Editing data, using forms. Editing the forms.

You may find that the database 存在 shipped with OpenOffice (ver.2 and higher) delights you as much as it has me. This page tries to help you use it.

Forget anything you may have heard about Adabas, which （機の）カム with 星／主役にする Office, the 商業の見解／翻訳／版 of Open Office 1. The 現在の Open Office's database, "Base", aka "ooBase", is 関係のない. And remember that Open Office, 含むing ooBase, is 解放する／自由な! But don't let that fool you. And it's not new. Big organizations, 政府 and 非軍事の, are 可決する・採択するing it as their 基準 office 控訴... and saving million$, but still Getting The 職業 Done.

This page is "browser friendly". Make your browser window as wide as you want it. The text will flow nicely for you. It is easier to read in a 狭くする window. With most browsers, 圧力（をかける）ing 加える, minus or 無 while the 支配（する）／統制する重要な (ctrl) is held 負かす／撃墜する will change the texts size. (大きくする, 減ずる, 回復する to default, それぞれ.) This page is just a quick 公式文書，認める about something that confounds new 使用者s of Open Office time and again. Don't feel foolish if you tripped on the 問題／発行する I will 演説（する）／住所... you aren't the first.

I can't edit my data 経由で a form.
My forms are "read-only"
The "edit form" button is greyed out / grayed out.

You've started your database. Good!

And you've made a form, for 見解（をとる）ing and editing the data in a （米）棚上げする／（英）提議する. Even better! It is a Bad Practice to work 直接／まっすぐに with （米）棚上げする／（英）提議するs. (Although we all do it from time to time. And 支払う／賃金 for that sloppiness, 結局.)

But you "can't" edit the data!

Are you sure? Have you tried? Or did the "read-only" in the form's 肩書を与える妨げる／法廷，弁護士業脅す you off?

現実に, you can edit the data in the （米）棚上げする／（英）提議する, usng your form. (Unless there's some other problem, beyond the 範囲 of this 公式文書，認める.) Just try it!

The "read-only" is speaking of the form itself. You can't, at the moment, edit that. The greyed out "edit とじ込み／提出する" button might let you edit the form... if the button were not greyed out.

So how DO you edit the form?

の近くに the form, if you have it open.

Go 支援する to the main ooBase main 事業／計画（する）経営者／支配人 window. Click on "Forms" in the left 手渡す pane, if you 港／避難所't already done that. 権利-click on the form you want to edit. Click on "edit" in the pop-up menu. Hey, presto! You are into the form, ready to edit its design.

Make whatever changes you wish to make, and then leave the "Design" 方式... I'll say how in a moment. 実験（する） your changes. If all's 井戸／弁護士席, you're done; if not, you can repeat the cycle.

Even when you have the form open for edit, the "Edit とじ込み／提出する" button remains greyed out. I don't know what it is for or when it is not greyed out. At least the "read-only" is gone from the 肩書を与える妨げる／法廷，弁護士業 when you 最初 open the form as 述べるd a moment ago.

Turning Design 方式 On and Off

What I call 存在 able to edit the design of the form the nice people at Open Office call 存在 in the "Design 方式". Fair enough.

As explained above, if you just open a form the 平易な way, you can use the form to 見解（をとる） or edit the data in a （米）棚上げする／（英）提議する, but you can't change the form itself.

To change the form, to change its design, you open the form 異なって, by the 大勝する explained above. When you open it thus, you open it with "Design 方式" switched on. If you opened the form that way, you can switch the Design 方式 on and off 繰り返して.

There is a button 設立する on many toolbars to do this. (I don't think there's a way to do it from the window's menu.)

A suitable toolbar is the Form Design toolbar. Click "見解（をとる）" on the menu, then "Toolbars" to see if the Form Design toolbar is turned on. The button on that which you want is an orange 始める，決める-square over a 支配者 with a diagonal pencil. Hover over it, and the tooltip will say "Design 方式 On/Off". I dislike 'fancy' websites with more 関心 for a flashy 外見 than for good content. For a pretty picture, I can go to an art gallery. Of course, an attractive 場所／位置 WITH content deserves 賞賛する... as long as that pretty 直面する doesn't cost download time. In any 事例／患者....
