Open Office Base (database) Tutorials
演説(する)/住所 Labels

The concise explanation

This page is one of several trying to help you get the most out of the splendid Open Office. They are 連合した with a larger 始める,決める concentrating on ooBase.

Remember that Open Office, 含むing ooBase, is 解放する/自由な! But don't let that fool you. And it's not new. Big organizations, 政府 and 非軍事の, are 可決する・採択するing it as their 基準 office 控訴... and saving million$, and still Getting The 職業 Done.

There's more about ooBase in the main 索引 to this 構成要素.

This page is "browser friendly". Make your browser window as wide as you want it. The text will flow nicely for you. It is easier to read in a 狭くする window. With most browsers, 圧力(をかける)ing 加える, minus or 無 while the 支配(する)/統制する 重要な (ctrl) is held 負かす/撃墜する will change the texts size. (大きくする, 減ずる, 回復する to default, それぞれ.) (This is more fully explained, and there's another tip, at my 力/強力にする Browsing page.)

Introduction

This tutorial is not written the way most of the tutorials at this 場所/位置 are written. It 削減(する)s corners. It panders to the "I don't want to understand what I'm doing; I just want the answer" (人が)群がる.

You will be shown the basics of producing 演説(する)/住所 labels with Open Office. Please read the more 包括的な discussion I've written for you if you find the tutorial on this page insufficient for your wants. That is a "proper" explanation. Besides explaining the things you need to understand, it 含むs advice on filtering and sorting.

Catch Your Rabbit

If your 演説(する)/住所 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる) is in a spreadsheet, you will need to make a copy of that in a database first. Here is a concise guide to 変えるing data in a spreadsheet to a database.

Producing Labels- from a database

Reviewed with ooBase 見解/翻訳/版 3.2.1 on Windows XP... but things should work the same way with other Open Office 取り付け・設備s. (1/21: 概して speaking, 類似の things are possible... I'm pretty sure... with LibreOffice/Firebird.)

If you do not already have a database with your 演説(する)/住所s in it, here's how to build one. If you do have the database already, skip 負かす/撃墜する to "If you have the database already"

開始する,打ち上げる 00Base, elect "Start New Database".

Step 2: Do 登録(する) the database. Elect, for after database とじ込み/提出する saved, "Open Database for Editing".

Save new database in My 文書s/tmp as FDB2009Jan

From ooBase main 事業/計画(する) 経営者/支配人 window, invoke "Create (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する in design 見解(をとる)".

始める,決める up fields as follows...

指名する // Type

Save the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する as 演説(する)/住所s, in the same folder as the database, which is where we will save everything.

Be Very Naughty, and open the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する, enter some data 直接/まっすぐに. (It is better to 接近 (米)棚上げする/(英)提議するs 経由で forms.) Enter at least three 記録,記録的な/記録するs.

の近くに everything. You don't 現実に always have to do this, but if you do, I can 令状 the next section in a way that 控訴s both you and the people who already had a database with their 演説(する)/住所s in it!

If you already have the database...

Get the Open Office database running. You don't need to 負担 the とじ込み/提出するs with your data yet.

Use the menu of the ooBase main 事業/計画(する) 経営者/支配人 window to invoke とじ込み/提出する | New | Labels.

In the "Labels" window that pops up, you'll need to do やめる a bit of work....

First, 明示する the 判型 of the label sheets you will be using. You do this with the 支配(する)/統制するs below "判型" at the 底(に届く) of the window. For now, select (if it isn't already like this) "Sheet", Brand "Avery", Type "J8157" or "L7157". You'll get a description at the 底(に届く) of the window. The "(3 x 11)" at the end of it tells you that these sheets have 3 columns, each with 11 列/漕ぐ/騒動s. (The "J" variant is for A4 在庫/株, "L" for "letter", e.g. the 基準 US size.)

Next 明示する the database that is to 供給する the data. This is done with the "Database" field on the Labels tab (of the Labels window!). In the example created on this page, you want FDB2009Jan.

Here's a little "gotcha", which might catch out some of you: If you've been playing with ooBase for a bit, and created more than one database called "Tmp" (or anything else) along the way, ooBase will not be referring to your 現在の "Tmp" as just "Tmp" any more. It will have done something... probably stuck a "1" or a "2", "3"... etc. on after the "Tmp", to distinguish the different "Tmp"s from one another in the OO registry.

After 明示するing the database, you use the field below to 明示する the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する. "演説(する)/住所s" in our example.

Next 削除する anything that is 現在/一般に in the "label text" 覚え書き at the upper left of the Labels tab. Don't be tempted to put a tick in the "演説(する)/住所" tick box.

Click on the downward pointing arrow of the "Database field" combo box. You should see the fields of your (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する. Click on "指名する" and then click on the left pointing arrow to the left of the "Database field" combobox. That should put <FDB2009Jan.演説(する)/住所s.0.指名する> in the label text 覚え書き.

The insertion point should be at the 権利 手渡す end of the <FDB2009Jan.演説(する)/住所s.0.指名する>, with nothing selected. If that's not how things stand, arrange it, and then 圧力(をかける) the enter 重要な.

Go 支援する to the "Database field" combobox, select "Addr1", and again click the left-pointing arrow.

Your Labels dialog should now look like....

Screenshot

Be sure that you are getting "stuff" in the 覚え書き ("box") at the upper left, under the words "Label Text". You not onlyu have to 明示する the field you want, but also click the button with the left 直面するing arrow 近づく the middle of the dialog.

Carry on like that, building up the "地図/計画する" of what your labels will be made of. Here are the 詳細(に述べる)s...

Don't be fooled by the next few paragraphs. They are only almost the same as things you've seen before...

Click in the Label text 覚え書き. Get the insertion point at the 権利 手渡す end of the <FDB2009Jan.演説(する)/住所s.0.Addr1>, with nothing selected, and 圧力(をかける) the enter 重要な.

Go 支援する to the "Database field" combobox, select "Town", and again click the left-pointing arrow.

Click in the Label text 覚え書き. Get the insertion point at the 権利 手渡す end of the <FDB2009Jan.演説(する)/住所s.0.Town>, with nothing selected, and type one comma and 圧力(をかける) the space 妨げる/法廷,弁護士業 once.

Go 支援する to the "Database field" combobox, select "明言する/公表する", and again click the left-pointing arrow. (The Label text 覚え書き will now, if it wasn't before, be too small to show your label in 十分な. It has scroll 妨げる/法廷,弁護士業s which you'll need to use if you want to "look around" the label you have 明示するd.)

That's the "Labels" tab done, the "地図/計画する" created.

The "判型" tab tells you about the label 在庫/株 you have chosen. You shouldn't need to alter anything there.

The "選択s" tab should have "Entire page" and "Synchronize contents" ticked.

Click "New 文書", which will の近くに the Labels window, and open an ooWriter 文書 covered in labels... but not showing your data, just showing <指名する>, <Addr1>, <Town>, <明言する/公表する> over and over again.

Use とじ込み/提出する | Save at the 最高の,を越す of the window to save this 文書 as "MailingLabels" in the same folder as your database.

Select とじ込み/提出する | Print from the labels' window's menu. (公式文書,認める: "Print Preview" won't show you 正確に/まさに what you would see if you print out the 文書.)

You should be asked....

Your 文書 含む/封じ込めるs 演説(する)/住所 database
fields. Do you want to print
a form letter?

You should answer "Yes".

A コンビナート/複合体 window will open. You shouldn't need to change anything. You should print "記録,記録的な/記録するs All" to "Printer". Don't worry that you 港/避難所't had a chance to 明示する WHICH printer! Click 承認する.

NOW you should see your usual Printer dialog window. Again, default 選択s will be the safest bet. Click 承認する.

I hope that will give you a sensible result! But feel 解放する/自由な to 令状 if it doesn't. Please 特記する/引用する the webpage you were reading... FDB1addrlabShort

If you want an 広告 hoc 演説(する)/住所 labels 使用/適用, I sell LunhamLabels as shareware! It is a bit of a 苦痛 to 始める,決める up, but once you are there, it does a good 職業 of doing labels, and can be selective, i.e. print just the labels you've flagged, say for Christmas cards, from your 包括的な 演説(する)/住所s 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる). The latter, for Lunham Labels, is just a text 文書. Open Office isn't 伴う/関わるd.

編集(者)の Philosophy

I dislike 'fancy' website's with more 関心 for a flashy 外見 than for good content. For a pretty picture, I can go to an art gallery. Of course, an attractive 場所/位置 WITH content deserves 賞賛する... as long as that pretty 直面する doesn't cost download time. In any 事例/患者....

I am trying to 現在の this 構成要素 in a 判型 which makes it 平易な for you to USE it. There are two 面s to that: The way it is 分裂(する) up, and the way it is 地位,任命するd. See the main 索引 to this 構成要素 for more (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) about the way it is 分裂(する) up, and the way it is 地位,任命するd.

広告 from page's editor: Yes.. I do enjoy 収集するing these things for you... I hope they are helpful. However.. this doesn't 支払う/賃金 my 法案s!!! If you find this stuff useful, (and you run an MS-DOS or Windows PC) please visit my freeware and shareware page, download something, and 循環させる it for me? Links on your page to this page would also be 高く評価する/(相場などが)上がるd!
