You may find that the database which is part of LibreOffice/ OpenOffice delights you as much as it has me. This page tries to help you use it.

But I am finding, more and more, that you can't use either without 確かな struggles. The 最新の is that the embedded Firebird engine (31 Aug 21) doesn't 許す autoincrement fields. This is a major 苦痛. The "workaround" I've come up with is entering my 最初の／主要な 重要な values by 手渡す. I've not been successful in getting a sequencer/ 発生させる人（物） to work. Nor can I find a way to find the 見解／翻訳／版 number of the embedded Firebird engine.
I will 兵士 on for a while... I am stubborn. But these are blows which I could have done without.
This guide tells you how to "switch on" an 選択 in LibreOffice.
I suppose I should be sure you want that 選択. If you already know that you want to be able to use Firebird, you can skip the sidebar!
I was taught "start as I mean to go on". If you are new to LibreOffice Base, I would 堅固に recommend that you use Firebird from the start.
"Wait a minute!", you might say. "Didn't you say you are new to LibreOffice Base? How do you know WHAT is the 権利 thing to do?"
Yes, I did, and I am. But I wrote my first program MANY years ago... we used punched tape... and have been using the OpenOffice database from long before LibreOffice Base was a gleam in anyone's 注目する，もくろむ. Tell the "Open Base" wizard that you want to start a new database, using an embedded "database" (i.e. database engine!). Save the database. 開始する，打ち上げる the "Use Wizard to create （米）棚上げする／（英）提議する" 道具.
Tell the wizard you only need two fields. Choose one that will be an integer, and will have a unique value in all 記録，記録的な／記録するs, and one other of any type. Click Next.
Here's the 握りこぶし half of the answer to 避けるing trouble: Even though the field we 含むd (the one that will have a unique integer value in every 記録，記録的な／記録する) is, as you probably guessed, going to be used for the （米）棚上げする／（英）提議する's 最初の／主要な 重要な, do NOT say it is to be filled by "自動車-value" in the second step of the （米）棚上げする／（英）提議する Wizard. Do, however, say "入ること／参加（者） is 要求するd". (Do anything you like with the 所有物／資産／財産s of the other field.) Click Next. 8/21: It turns out that embedded Firebird doesn't "do" 自動車-increment. I've yet to get anything other than entering values for this field by 手渡す to work. (You will, at least, be told if you try to enter a value that has already been used.)
Here's the other half, the bit that takes care of the "mistake" you may have thought you made, when you didn't 明示する "自動車-value" in step 2...
In step 3, "始める，決める 最初の／主要な 重要な", tick the "create 最初の／主要な 重要な" box, "fill in" the circle in 前線 of "Use an 存在するing field as a 最初の／主要な 重要な". 明示する the field you 供給するd for this. (公式文書，認める the dropdown 利用できる.)You CAN tick, here, the "自動車-value" box. BUT YOUR REQUEST WILL BE IGNORED. Click Next.
Give the （米）棚上げする／（英）提議する a 指名する. Click Finish. 実験（する）. Simples! No hassle!

I believe that many.. most? all?... Open Office/ HSQL databases can be 変えるd to Firebird databases... though I 港／避難所't 実験（する）d that belief yet. You can certainly open, and work with, a HSQL- created- under- OpenOffice database from inside LibreOffice... though there may be "stuff" to …に出席する to, along the way.

This guide will take you through a small tweak that will 許す you to choose Firebird for the embedded "database" ("database engine" would have been a better 称する，呼ぶ／期間／用語.)
The tweak won't stop you using HSQLB... if you wish to. (I would recommend that you move に向かって Firebird as 急速な／放蕩な as you can. If you are new to LibreOffice Base, I would 避ける ever using HSQLB... it is "on its way out".)
A downside? To be fair, I should explain one thing. (You will get the same 警告 from LibreOffice during the "switch it on" 過程".)
To switch on the Firebird 選択, you have to switch on all of the 現在の 実験の features in the whole LibreOffice 控訴. If you use an 実験の feature, it may not work 100% as you 推定する／予想するd, or even, perhaps, as it 現実に should.
But if you stick to basics, you shouldn't have any "adventures". And wouldn't you like the 選択 of trying new things? The Nice People developing LibreOffice are not going to put barely 実験（する）d stuff in a 解放（する）d 見解／翻訳／版 of the 製品, are they? Even the "前進するd" / "実験の" things will have had 広範囲にわたる 開発 and 実験（する）ing.
So! Willing to "go with" my advice? 広大な／多数の／重要な! (You can "switch off" the 前進するd features again later, if you decide they weren't 権利 for you.)

Open the LibreOffice Writer app. (So that you will not 遭遇（する） the Base "Open database" wizard before getting to the main page.)
Invoke 道具s/選択s.... 前進するd... And tick "enable 実験の features"....
... and click "承認する".
You should be told to 再開する the database. Do it. Now "Firebird" will be one of your 選択s for the engine when you want to start a new database which is to use an embedded "database" (That 誘発する really shouldn't ask what "database" you want to use. It should ask what database engine you want.)
I dislike 'fancy' websites with more 関心 for a flashy 外見 than for good content. For a pretty picture, I can go to an art gallery. Of course, an attractive 場所／位置 WITH content deserves 賞賛する... as long as that pretty 直面する doesn't cost download time. In any 事例／患者....
