SIR,--When I was a young boy, I had delicate health, and was somewhat of a pensive and contemplative turn of mind; it was my delight in the long summer evenings to slip away from my noisy and more 強健な companions, that I might walk in the shade of a venerable 支持を得ようと努めるd, my favourite haunt, and listen to the cawing of the old rooks, who seemed as fond of this 退却／保養地 as I was.

One evening I sat later than usual, though the distant sound of the cathedral clock had more than once 警告するd me to my home. There was a stillness in all nature that I was unwilling to 乱す by the least 動議. From this reverie I was suddenly startled by the sight of a tall, slender 女性（の） who was standing by me, looking sorrowfully and 刻々と in my 直面する. She was dressed in white, from 長，率いる to foot, in a fashion I had never seen before; her 衣料品s were 異常に long and flowing, and resulted as she glided through the low shrubs 近づく me as if they were made of the richest silk. My heart （警官の）巡回区域，受持ち区域 as if I were dying, and I knew not that I could have stirred from the 位置／汚点／見つけ出す; but she seemed so very 穏やかな and beautiful, I did not 試みる／企てる it. Her pale brown hair was braided 一連の会議、交渉／完成する her 長，率いる, but there were some locks that 逸脱するd upon her neck; and altogether she looked like a lovely picture, but not like a living woman. I cannot 正確に／まさに say why I did not on my return speak of this beautiful 外見, nor why, with a strange mixture of hope and 恐れる, I went again and again to the same 位置／汚点／見つけ出す that I might see her. She always （機の）カム, and often in the 嵐／襲撃する and plashing rain, that never seemed to touch or to annoy her, and looked sweetly at me, and silently passed on; and though she was so 近づく to me, that once the 勝利，勝つd 解除するd these light 逸脱するing locks, and I felt them against my cheek, yet I never could move or speak to her. I fell ill, and when I 回復するd, my mother closely questioned me of the tall lady, of whom, in the 高さ of my fever, I had so often spoken.

I cannot tell you what a 負わせる was taken from my boyish spirits when I learned that this was no apparition, but a most lovely woman; not young, though she had kept her young looks, for the grief which had broken her heart seemed to have spared her beauty.

When the 反逆者／反逆する 軍隊／機動隊s were 退却／保養地ing after their total 敗北・負かす, in that very 支持を得ようと努めるd I was so fond of, a young officer, unable any longer to 耐える the anguish of his 負傷させるs, sunk from his horse, and laid himself 負かす／撃墜する to die. he was 設立する there by the daughter of Sir Henry R--, and 伝えるd by a trusty 国内の to her father's mansion. Sir Henry was a 現体制支持者／忠臣; but the officer's desperate 条件 excited his compassion, and his many 負傷させるs spoke a language a 勇敢に立ち向かう man could not misunderstand. Sir Henry's daughter, with many 涙／ほころびs, pleaded for him and pronounced that he should be carefully and 内密に …に出席するd. And 井戸／弁護士席 she kept that 約束, for she waited upon him (her mother 存在 long dead) for many weeks, and anxiously watched for the first 開始 of 注目する，もくろむs, that, languid as he was, looked brightly and gratefully upon his nurse.

You may fancy better than I can tell you, as he slowly 回復するd, all the moments that were spent in reading, and low-発言する／表明するd singing, and gentle playing on the lute, and how many fresh flowers were brought to one whose 負傷させるd 四肢s would not 耐える him to gather them for himself, and how calmly the days glided on in blessedness of returning health, and in that 甘い silence so carefully enjoined him. I will pass by this to speak of one day, which brighter and pleasanter than others, did not seem more 有望な or more lovely than the looks of the young maiden, as she gaily spoke of "a little festival which (though it must 耐える an unworthier 指名する) she meant really to give in honour of her guest's 回復." "And it is time, lady," said he, "for that guest so tended and honoured, to tell you his whole story, and speak to you of one who will help him to thank you; may I ask you, fair lady, to 令状 a little billet for me, which even in these times of danger I may find some means to 今後?" To his mother, no 疑問, she thought, as with light steps and a はしけ heart she seated herself by his couch, and smilingly bade him dictate; but when he said "My dear wife," and 解除するd up his 注目する，もくろむs to be asked for more, he saw before him a pale statue, that gave him one look of utter despair, and fell--for he had no 力／強力にする to help her--ひどく at his feet. Those 注目する，もくろむs never truly 反映するd the pure soul again, or answered by answering looks the 設立する enquiries of her poor old father. She lived to be as I saw her,--甘い and gentle, and delicate always; but 推論する／理由 returned no more. She visited till the day of her death the 位置／汚点／見つけ出す where she first saw that young 兵士, and dressed herself in the very 着せる／賦与するs that he said so 井戸／弁護士席 became her.
