FSOSS 2008 : saturday
The FSOSS is finished, but I'd like to について言及する a bunch of photos 存在 taken by

FSOSS 2008 - Slide Show 見解(をとる) FSOSS 2008 - 正規の/正選手 見解(をとる)Enjoy !!On saturday, the 計画(する) was scheduled at 17:40. For the last time, Fardad was my driver all the day, to help me to buy gifts for my family. We visited a lot of places, 含むing an Apple 蓄える/店, where I bought a new 殴打/砲列, because the one in place was inflating and the 交流 was not possible ( not an Apple 初めの, but a True 力/強力にする ).
Once 支援する in フラン, I'll have to cry to my provider ( Macway for instance), who sold me such bad 殴打/砲列.
Was the time to return and Fardad put me at the airport. I must 認める, without him, my trip to Seneca College would have been more difficult ( Toronto public transportation is not that 平易な ).
The travel was without any glitch, glad to retrive my family at the airport, and sleep a bit :)

FSOSS 2008 : Friday

After
discovering Toronto and
FSOSS 2008 : Thursday ,here is what I did during the second day of the event.
We arrived ( Fardad and me ) around 9:00 at Seneca, and I took my time to …に出席する. The first 贈呈 was Enabling Healthy Open Source Communities: 事例/患者 熟考する/考慮する -- Thunderbird, where
David Eaves (交渉 専門家) and
Dave Mosedale(CTO, Mozilla Messaging) 現在のd the Thunderbird community, in sort of an interview made by David Eaves. Lot of 関連した 発言/述べるs, but better look at the ビデオs for all the jokes inside :)
Next was the Mozilla and 動きやすい, with
Stuart Parmenter, from Mozilla developers Team. I don't have any 独房 phone, and it was a 発見 for me. AFAIK, there is nothing at all for 動きやすいs in OpenOffice.org, and I'm afraid OpenOffice.org is far from such features. If ever Apple 修正するs it's NDA for true, maybe I'll try to play a day with the iPhone SDK, but after a noisy 発表する, nothing is still (疑いを)晴らす, and better wait.
Last 贈呈 of the monring was
JohnMaddog Hall ((n)役員/(a)執行力のある Director of Linux International, CTO of Koolu ), who 現在のd the Open Telephony. Indeed, we use to forget what can be 解放する/自由な, and how things are いっそう少なく and いっそう少なく 解放する/自由な every day. やめる 利益/興味ing.
The afternoon started with something abt more boring: I didn't understand anything at the first 贈呈, so I prefer not say more about it :)
To make a break, we worked with Fardad on the configure thing, and the downloa
d of OOo sources through svn. Lucky man with a brand new Macbook プロの/賛成の :-)
Last conf was impressive:
Greg de Koenigsberg (Community 開発 経営者/支配人, Red Hat Inc. ) is really a nice 伝達者: no need to slide, just everything in mind, and energy, a lot of energy. the 人物/姿/数字s about number of contributors / efficiency and bugs was 利益/興味ing. It was question of the interaction between Fedora and Red Hat, and how to 改善する the community. I can only applaude he explained, that if things are discussed behind the doors, contributors go away.
But that's not the end : I was lucky to 会合,会う
Catherine Leung (Professor at Seneca College) at the (衆議院の)議長s dinner, and she 約束d me to make a デモ of JavaScript 3D. She did : nice デモ, and very 約束ing stuff.
Last, I'd like to give two awards to
示す Surman ((n)役員/(a)執行力のある Director, Mozilla 創立/基礎) for his energy and creativity (always brainstorming everything :) ), and
David Crow - Web Evangelist, from Microsoft Canada (yes Microsoft) for his humour.
End of the conf, but not th end of the day: Fardad and his wife, 招待するd me at the restaurant, and it was fantastic. Was very good, and I sincirely 推定する/予想する to return, and 招待する my hosts this time.

After
Fardad Soleimanloo 選ぶd me up at the Hotel, I discovered Seneca College. Nice school. The 条件s for students seems to be excellent. Lucky students :-)

David Humphrey for true (IRC is .. different :) ). Time to start :) Everything has been 記録,記録的な/記録するd, and ビデオs will soon be 利用できる.
Our topic was : Teaching Open Source. Seneca College Professors 招待するd me to 参加する to "The Professor's 視野" topic, scheduled after the studen'ts 視野.
The Student's 視野 was incredibly 利益/興味ing. Animated by
示す Surman (from the Mozilla 創立/基礎 staff), we have heard very good students, who explained their experience, and what they really think about the Open Source teaching. What is good, what is not. I noticed carefully
Armen Zambrano (who 与える/捧げるd to the Mozilla 部隊 実験(する) server) gold 発言/述べる :
"if you 準備する yourself for teaching/learning Open Source, don't 推定する/予想する to be ready: you'll never be".
That's so true : this is a continuous challenge, where everybody learns for himself, and from the other.
Then it was our turn. The 審議 was animated by
David Eaves. We 以前 一般的に agreed to not use slides, or 3 only if ever. So I just 用意が出来ている 公式文書,認めるs, about what is the most important for me, about teaching Open Source. The ビデオ 含む/封じ込めるs everything, but what I'll 保持する is, all the people around the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する arguments, show they do it for true: most of the points we discussed, are 株d, because this is just the reality.
For example, all the students are different, and ask the same questions, in a different order. And if you want to
attract them, this is 極端に time 消費するing, and you must have 1) 献身的な IRC channel for that, and 2) 献身的な people to welcome them, and doing the 中間の, e.g. connecting them to the 権利 devs.
Another 利益/興味ing point was : what about the difficulty ? Is the teacher always able to solve the problem itself ? or not ? Answers 異なるd. From my 味方する, I try to always 提案する 支配するs I could work on myself, with a 訂正する chance to 完全にする, but I agree the fact, nobody can know/do everything, and いつかs, doing the 仕事 you have to 直面する difficulties discovered at the begining.
Last, the 役割 of the teacher is more to welcome, teach methodology, what are the 支配するs in a community 事業/計画(する), and connect to the 核心 developper, when it's time, but not before.
にもかかわらず, the ありふれた denominator of everything, is everybody is more 動機づけるd when the 仕事 is usefull (I mean to all the "偽の" 事業/計画(する)s student do every year, just to 得る their credits).
And like it is 述べるd (French, sorry)
there,
the 目的 of Education is not to make the 甘い 辛勝する/優位s of a bitter cup, but rather to make the bitter 辛勝する/優位 of a cup sugar, i.e. systematically 提案するing that is 広大な/多数の/重要な and difficult, having just 卒業生(する)d care of the problem throughout the year.Next was the 会・原則 視野.
Greg De Koenigsberg ( Community 開発 経営者/支配人, Red Hat Inc. ) was 広大な/多数の/重要な. I noticed there are 資源s, but what cares is more how to be sure the prof does the 権利 thing, and how to 正確に 評価する the students.
I don't remember how the topic (機の)カムs on that, but the bad thing is, yet another time, people 認める OpenOffice.org has a low 受託 in 教育の system. I 提案するd people to send me feedback, 含むing the two most important 推論する/理由s they know.

en during lunch, was a brainstorming (I think real 動機づけるd people never stop thinking to that :) ).
Afternoon was about the community 視野. Was 利益/興味ing, and was a new brainstorming in little groups, about 見習い工 and Teaching Models, Prof incentive and 技術s, What can we do together. Was followed by a dring, and the (衆議院の)議長s Dinner. 支援する to the Hotel 早期に ( Jet lag killed me).

As a simple volunteer, even not a professional, I must 収容する/認める, I'm proud and 栄誉(を受ける)d to 代表する the 事業/計画(する) at such an event like the
FSOSS 2008 ( Toronto, Canada).

I'm impatient to 会合,会う for true
Fardad, David, Chris, all professors at
Seneca College,
Rose Saliba, and all the one I only know the (nick) 指名する on the IRC channel, and to 会合,会う all these students who are learning Open Source.
The idea is to 提案する the students an 使用/適用 based on a real bug, or 行方不明の feature, and 令状 code for OpenOffice.org. Thus, 簡単に find new developers.
My 贈呈 will 述べる an
European point of 見解(をとる) of our experience, explain what 作品, what does not, what could be done, and how we could work together. In one word, 提案する some 跡をつけるs to 協力する and 改善する what already 存在するs with the Open Source Community.
Off : David told me he's using a Mac, and we already have nice ideas for students 利益/興味d to 与える/捧げる for the Mac port ;-)
