OOo4Kids 0.6 and Happy New Year !!

For the new year, EducOOo and the OpenOffice.org Education 事業/計画(する) are proud to 発表する OOo4Kids 0.6 is out, and can be downloaded at :

OOo4Kids is made for 教育の 目的, has been thought to work with students, making them discover OpenOfice.org source code, without 強制s, but just code, and having Fun.
The 約束 is, when the code is good enough, it will be 提案するd for 統合,差別撤廃 into OpenOffice.org.

OOo4Kids is a 7-12 years children Office 控訴, based on OpenOffice.org ( http://www.openoffice.org ) source code. This means OpenOffice.org has some features OOo4Kids has not (like Base and Java). And if you need those features, please use OpenOffice.org, that you can download at : Download OpenOffice.org. Education 事業/計画(する) mailing 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる) reactivation

Below, the mail I sent to several mailing 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる)s.

After two years of an 激しい activity of the french part of the education.openoffice.org 事業/計画(する), we are ready to 反動的な this international 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる) : this is one of our 客観的なs for 2010 !!


To subscribe, just send a mail at : 使用者s-subscribe@education.openoffice.org 確認する, and that's all : you can start 与える/捧げるing to the Education 事業/計画(する) !!

To become a member, please follow the 指示/教授/教育s 供給するd there : http://education.openoffice.org/servlets/ProjectMemberList

Education 事業/計画(する) 目的(とする)s to create a 橋(渡しをする) between 教育の World and OpenOffice.org 事業/計画(する), に引き続いて 3 axes :

- create a 網状組織 of teachers, using OpenOffice.org
- 供給する a 株ing area
- 供給する new developers, and spread OpenOffice.org source code (teach OOo source code and coding 指導基準s, UNO, an so on)

現在/一般に, this 事業/計画(する) counts around 110 members, but everybody is welcome, and there is so much to do, that any 出資/貢献 is wamrly welcome too !!

Everybody is welcome : teachers, students, just curious :)


For the one willing to help us, we need people able to help us for the website, translate, manage the wiki, but not only (the 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる) is not 限られた/立憲的な).

Other need is to compare, work together (collaborative work), and concatenate (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状)s 供給するing from several 教育の systems, and of course, 株 our knowledge.

OpenOffice.org Education 事業/計画(する) and Epitech Paris students

The 広大な/多数の/重要な story between Epitech Paris and OpenOffice.org, for instance OpenOffice.org Education 事業/計画(する), 代表するing OpenOffice.org Proejct, of course, continued this year.

What happened ?

Last year, was Pierre Pasteau, who 与える/捧げるd to the moz2seamonkey 移住. Thanks to Frank Schonheit who helped us a lot btw.

This year, we had two other students, Thomas Fontenay and Abelkader Belabbes, who did a 広大な/多数の/重要な work too. The work they did, was to port OOo4Kids to the XO

公式文書,認める: port OpenOffice.org 直接/まっすぐに is not an 選択, because an XO machine does only have 1GB of Hard disk, and 256 MB or RAM only, while OOo 始める,決める is already 400MB :-)


Some will say this is not a 直接/まっすぐに 明白な result, but in fact, this is an 極端に important result : Realize this XO port connected OpenOffice.org Community 直接/まっすぐに with XO / OLPC Community !! (like 供給する gdium suppport connected us to the OLPH community too)

Indeed, from one 味方する, the .odf is 必須の, and from another, it must be considered that the students learned a lot of OpenOffice.org source code, in a short time. Learn the code first, is 必須の to my 注目する,もくろむs. If they had to dive into QA, specs (what 基本的に does mostly 関心 Sun 従業員s), six month would have been too short. The other good 影響, is that the OpenOffice.org 事業/計画(する) yet built a strong link with an engineer school.

In fact, that's 正確に/まさに what we did with Ecole Centrale Nantes, and UTBM .

The difficulty is that create such 橋(渡しをする)s with schools is 極端に long, needs a lot of energy, but, in return, creates a very 肯定的な image of the 事業/計画(する), and can really help to find developers (remember, the code is the 血 of a 解放する/自由な ソフトウェア, not "politics ").

Just a bit of patience, and the 未来 will be better !


Last but not least, we received several machines, 正確に/まさに 3 XO-1.5 for the next coming students. The 計画(する) is to profile and try to 改善する Impress 業績/成果s (the request is very high for the netbooks), and 提案する a backport in OpenOffice.org, if the code desserves it.

Those machines are reserved to the two first students (from フラン prefered), able to find a prof (義務的な) to make the link with the school.

Ecole Centrale Nantes and OpenOffice.org Education 事業/計画(する)

The OpenOffice.org Education 事業/計画(する) continues the 成果/努力. Ecole Centrale Nantes is a 正規の/正選手 contributor, and below, the story.

How was it this year ? 井戸/弁護士席, change from svn to hg was a bit tricky (headhache 原因(となる)d by the rebase), but at the end, we did it. Jonathan Winandy, 水銀の 専門家 created its own repository, and we used it until the end. At the end, I 押し進めるd, with Thorsten Behrens and Rene Engelhard precious advices, all the changes into eraser01 cws.

Another part of the work is at 問題/発行する 97972, but not only. The wiki too does 含む/封じ込める a lot of (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状).

The students who 与える/捧げるd this year, are :

* Remy Dumas

And the professor who followed that is Morgan Magnin.

For the one 利益/興味d, the final 報告(する)/憶測 is 利用できる online : ECN Tablet, final 報告(する)/憶測 (2009)

The feature is really 広大な/多数の/重要な (specifications have been 提案するd last year) and we are 準備するing the cws, for the QA. It will be 支え(る) osed for 統合,差別撤廃. There will not be a big change, because the 選択 will not be active by defaut. The 計画(する) is to 追加する other features in the next semesters.

I'll 保持する, like the previous time, it was a 楽しみ to work online with students, and to help them, to discover the OpenOffice.org source code, and more. Other important thing, is that you can work on the 核心, when you are enough の近くに to the students, to 助言者 them, and hear carefully their problems. IRC ( channel : #education.openoffice.org , server : irc.freenode.逮捕する ) is really 広大な/多数の/重要な for that.
