Fun with LEDs and pattern 承認...
Having nothing much to do today, I connected a bunch of LEDs to my computer's 平行の port. I've written a little program which uses a webcam to 認める color patterns, I create, by making colored dots on a sheet of paper. If I make a sequence like, red - yellow - red, the computer will 認める it as a binary 101 (red = 1, yellow = 0). So, it will turn on the LEDs in the sequence: ON OFF ON. 井戸/弁護士席, I guess this thing doesn't have much practical use. However, its fun because it feels as if I'm visually communicating with the computer in some way! I find this really 利益/興味ing. Check out the ビデオs above. :)

平行の port relay for playing with real world gadgets!
I've finally connected a relay to my 平行の port! I got the 回路・連盟 design from here. I can use the relay to 支配(する)/統制する almost anything in my house. I have 連合させるd it with my gesture recognizer to 許す me to 支配(する)/統制する things with a レーザー pointer! Its fun. Using this with 動議 (犯罪,病気などの)発見 could also be a good idea. The computer would turn on lights whenever it senses 動議. Anyway, check out the ビデオ above. I'm 支配(する)/統制するing a (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する lamp with my computer.

I guess I could've connected upto eight relays, but I 手配中の,お尋ね者 to keep it simple. Besides, I might 結局最後にはーなる using a bluetooth relay board later on (or maybe even X10). :)

Real-Time Color Based 反対する 跡をつけるing
I have been trying to 跡をつける moving 反対するs for やめる some time. I wasn't very successful in 修正するing my 動議 (犯罪,病気などの)発見 code to 成し遂げる 動議 跡をつけるing because 影をつくる/尾行するs were really making life difficult for my program. The program was having difficulties distinguishing the actual 反対する from its 影をつくる/尾行する. So, I went for a different approach: "color based 反対する 跡をつけるing". Here's how it 作品. After the program 逮捕(する)s an image from the webcam, it introduces it to a mean filter which 原因(となる)s the image to become blurred. This blurring is done to 減ずる noise from the image. After doing that, it uses an RGB filter to 除去する all 反対するs from the image except the 反対する to be 跡をつけるd (I have to adjust the RGB filter manually for different 反対するs). Then, to make life easier, the program thresholds the image. Thresholding turns the image into a 1-bit binary image. Check out the picture below:

Then, after 成し遂げるing some 付加 noise 除去, it tries to 決定する the 中心 of the 反対する. See the picture below:
That's it! It's pretty simple, but I had to spend two days 実験ing and 実験(する)ing this idea. Check out the ビデオ above to see this program 跡をつけるing a yellow ball. I can't wait to hook this thing up with my floppy 運動 camera panner! It would be so much fun. :)

Defcon Bots


I've been busy over the last couple of days working with my friend, Colin Karpfinger in building a computer controlled, 自治権のある 狙撃 robot for the DefconBots 競争. The robot 基本的に has to identify and and shoot 負かす/撃墜する 的s in a 狙撃 gallery. Colin is a really smart guy and he has already created a servo モーター based pan/攻撃する 議会 for moving the gun! You'll find some ビデオs here. Now, he's planning to connect a relay to his 平行の port which will 誘発する/引き起こす an electric airsoft gun. Awesome, isn 't it?
