Ms. Herbert 持つ／拘留するs a degree in art and education from Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, Tennessee, and a master's degree (M.A.) in creative 令状ing with an 強調 on poetry, from The City College of New York, where she received three scholarships and the Jane Specter Award for 卒業生（する） creative 令状ing.
