"Manmade Karlsson" ("Konstgjorda Karlsson")

"Manmade Karlsson" was only one of many comic (土地などの)細長い一片s published in Sweden's first 週刊誌 magazine in color, the "Brokiga Blad", meaning appr. "colorful/motley papers".

The evening paper Aftonbladet, 設立するd in 1830 by Lars Johan Hierta, started this special Sunday 補足(する) in 1907 - and it was in color, at least the 前線 and 支援する pages were. "Brokiga Blad" was published until 1930, very much modelled after French magazines like "Petit 定期刊行物" or "Petit Parisien". The 前線 page usually 陳列する,発揮するd some みごたえのある 製図/抽選 of a 状況/情勢 from 最近の news events. This was 特に たびたび(訪れる) during WW I. The cover here to the left (April 21st, 1918) shows an Italian airplane spreading ちらしs over Milan with 宣伝 for the 最新の war 社債s.

The magazine did not 申し込む/申し出 serious reading only, but also features for 楽しみ, popular science articles about new 発明s, the nature of electricity etc. There were also pure pastimes like games and tricks and riddles. And on the 支援する page, the other colored page, there were comics. These were mostly very innocent, not to say naive, jollifications like "Nisse the Sneezer", "Pelle and Putte", "Mommy's and daddy's first baby", and - "Manmade Karlsson", which was introduced to the readers in 問題/発行する no 49, December 8th, 1918. The competing 出版(物), Allers magazine, had published a 類似の comic (土地などの)細長い一片 in 1908, about the inventor "Archimedes Blom" - 初めは a German (土地などの)細長い一片. New 科学(工学)技術 was a good 支配する for satire 支援する then, as it is today. "Manmade Karlsson" always ended in the same way. In the 結論するing でっちあげる,人を罪に陥れる he pointed out the 制限 of all machines - even anthropomorphous robots: they may be strong, but they don't 所有する two cents 価値(がある) of a brain.

"Manmade Karlsson" is probably not from the beginning a Swedish comic (土地などの)細長い一片, but rather of American or British origin. Readers with more info on this are welcome to 令状 to the Art 貯蔵所 editor at tallmo@nisus.se.
