William Hogarth: "The Anatomy Lesson (The Reward of Cruelty)", 1751.

This is the last plate (here わずかに trimmed at the 辛勝する/優位s) from the series "The Four 行う/開催する/段階s of Cruelty", showing the ruthless character Tom Nero ending his days on the dissecting (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する. At this time 犯罪のs in England were often 宣告,判決d both to death and dissection. This image is referring to this and is also a pastiche of the 肩書を与える-page of Vesalius' De Humani corporis fabrica. Many artists learned anatomy from lessons at the same "anatomical theaters" as 内科医s. Hogarth's 一連の prints were 広範囲にわたって 著作権侵害者d and this even led to two special copyright 法律s regarding prints in England, 1735 and 1766.
