From Andrea Vesalius, "De Humani corporis fabrica", woodcut, Basle, 1543.

With the imagery of Andrea Vesalius (Andreas 先頭 Wesel) anatomy took a 広大な/多数の/重要な step 今後. The art of printing was one 必要条件 for this, but also a 分離 from the Galen tradition, that 主として relied on animal dissection. Vesalius 成し遂げるd dissections already as a young and very talented student of 薬/医学 in Paris. But it was as a professor of 薬/医学 at Padua that he, 28 years old, published the Humani corporis fabrica (printed in Basle). The woodcuts were made under Vesalius' rigid 監督. Who made the 初めの 製図/抽選s is not known, but there has been some guesses, maybe Titian or one of his pupils, Joannes Stephanus of Calcar. Maybe Vesalius himself made some of the 製図/抽選s. This is the sixth of fourteen muscle plates.
