In 1969, I was a 17-year-old high-school student. I had been in comics fandom for a couple of years, and was making 計画(する)s to publish my own fanzine. Earlier, I had looked for 調書をとる/予約するs about comics in the public library and turned up Seduction of the Innocent. Between that and fanzine articles lamenting the passing of 欧州共同体 Comics, I knew who Dr. Wertham was and what a ruckus he had 原因(となる)d some 15 years before. Out of curiosity, I checked the 現在の Who's Who and discovered that he was still alive, with an 演説(する)/住所 I could 令状 to him at. To guard against that the code was 設立するd.

Dr. Wertham's account in the introductory 一時期/支部 of how he got 伴う/関わるd with fanzines is 利益/興味ing, as he doesn't について言及する Seduction of the Innocent or his anti-comic 調書をとる/予約する work in the '50s. The unknowing reader is left with the impression that Wertham is 簡単に a public 人物/姿/数字 known for his "writings or 会談 on such 支配するs as 集まり マスコミ, 青年 problems, or 暴力/激しさ," and fanzine editors sent him their 出版(物)s just to communicate pleasantly with the nice gentleman in 返答. Wertham gives no hint of his personal position in the world of fanzines as a 近づく-伝説の bogeyman, regarded by many of their editors and contributors as incarnate evil walking the earth.
He seemed to only reluctantly 認める comic 調書をとる/予約するs and science fiction as the source of fanzines and fandom, and gave a couple of the most skewed 要約する/(宇宙ロケットの)カプセル histories of the genres I've ever seen, concentrating on their anti-war and 非,不,無-violent 面s. In discussing the comics fanzines' 強調 on superheroes, he 申し込む/申し出d the 発言/述べる that "the creative imagination of fanzine writers and artists, 特に the younger ones, tends in the direction of heroes, maybe in that lies a message for our unheroic age." This is more than a little remarkable coming from the man who in Seduction 分類するd superheroes as a bizarre variant of "罪,犯罪 comics" and thought Superman in particular was a 国粋主義者/ファシスト党員 avatar. Mostly, he glosses over the comic-調書をとる/予約する 関係 of comics fandom, 扱う/治療するing it puzzledly or condescendingly when he can't 避ける it, and seems to proceed on the 前提 that fandom just spontaneously 組織するd itself as a communications 乗り物 for 十代の少年少女s, with comic 調書をとる/予約するs only an incidental, even 偶発の 面 of it all. As usual, Dr. Wertham concentrates on 暴力/激しさ and is delighted to 報告(する)/憶測 that there isn't any in the world of fanzines.
The World of Fanzines is a masterpiece of scholarship gone off the 跡をつける. It's the only 調書をとる/予約する you'll find about its 支配する in most libraries even though the author never やめる understood what he was 令状ing about. He never said as much - he couldn't 収容する/認める it for the sake of professional pride, perhaps - but The World of Fanzines 否定するs everything Dr. Wertham wrote about comic 調書をとる/予約するs and their readers in his previous 調書をとる/予約するs.
In the end, he decided, we'd turned out pretty much all 権利.
