and 早期に 1950s, a distinguished psychiatrist 指名するd Dr. Fredric Wertham made a 指名する for himself in the 部隊d 明言する／公表するs by 主要な a crusade against violent comic 調書をとる／予約するs. His 1954 調書をとる／予約する exposing the comic-調書をとる／予約する 産業, Seduction of the Innocent , is still remembered in American comics fandom as a wildly 誇張するd and overwrought polemic and has gone on to become a collector's item in its own 権利. Even the comic 調書をとる／予約するs について言及するd in the text or used as source illustrations have also become collector's items because of their 協会 with him and the 調書をとる／予約する. 直面するing a public relations nightmare and 審理，公聴会s by the US 上院 小委員会 on 少年犯罪，少年非行, fearful publishers either went out of 商売／仕事 or banded together to form a Comics Code 当局 that would censor comic 調書をとる／予約するs before some outside 団体／死体 did it for them.
American comics fans have no 原因（となる） to love Dr. Wertham. They remember him as the man who attacked comics with his hysterical 調書をとる／予約する, helped kill 欧州共同体 Comics (the one publisher doing anything like adult-level 構成要素), and brought on the Comics Code that 減ずるd American comics to a childish mentality. Many fans have associated Dr. Wertham with 上院議員 Joseph McCarthy, 井戸／弁護士席-known for his anti-共産主義者 crusade at about the same time, and legends 循環させる of Dr. Wertham 告発する／非難するing comic 調書をとる／予約するs of 存在 a 共産主義者 陰謀（を企てる） or some such.

"Seduction of the Innocent - the 影響（力） of comic 調書をとる／予約するs on today's 青年." On the 調書をとる／予約する's inner flap you could read: "90,000,000 comic 調書をとる／予約するs are read each month. You think they are mostly about floppy-eared bunnies, attractive little mice and chipmunks? Go take a look."

The actual story is somewhat different, and much more 複雑にするd. As an 指示する人（物） of the general 傾向 of Dr. Wertham's thinking, consider these three 引用するs from his さまざまな 調書をとる／予約するs:

I have known many adults who have treasured throughout their lives some of the 調書をとる／予約するs they read as children. I have never come across any adult or adolescent who had outgrown comic-調書をとる／予約する reading who would ever dream of keeping any of these '調書をとる／予約するs' for any sentimental or other 推論する／理由. - Seduction of the Innocent  (1954)

When Seduction of the Innocent  appeared in the middle fifties, it started a grass-roots social reaction... A change occurred. 殺人 in comic 調書をとる／予約するs 減少（する）d, and so did the number of 罪，犯罪-comic-調書をとる／予約する publishers. Within a few years after the 出版（物） of Seduction of the Innocent , twenty-four out of twenty-nine 罪，犯罪-comic- 調書をとる／予約する publishers went out of 商売／仕事. But it was only a 部分的な／不平等な victory. We now 会合，会う some of the child comic-調書をとる／予約する readers as parents of the '乱打するd child' or in 類似の 役割s. Moreover, very many of the old comic 調書をとる／予約するs are still around at 減ずるd prices. - A 調印する for Cain  (1966)

Comic-調書をとる／予約する collecting which started as a nice nostalgic hobby is in some danger of becoming an overpriced, overcommercialized 処理／取引 ... - The World of Fanzines  (1974)

A man probably has a 権利 to change his mind over the course of twenty years, but did Dr. Wertham really change his? How did a 目だつ psychiatrist and author get mixed up with comic 調書をとる／予約するs in the first place?

Fredric Wertham, 1895-1981.

によれば his obituary in the New York Times (December 1, 1981), Fredric Wertham was born in Munich, Germany, in 1895. He 熟考する／考慮するd at Kings College in London and at the Universities of Munich and Erlangen, and received his MD from the University of Würzburg in 1921. He held the 地位，任命するs of 上級の psychiatrist for the New York City Department of Hospitals and director of the mental hygiene clinics at Bellevue Hospital and later Queens General Hospital. He was also director of the Lafargue Clinic in Harlem, a mental hygiene clinic for the poor in a mostly 黒人／ボイコット section of New York City. His article for the American 定期刊行物 of Psychotherapy , "Psychological 影響s of School Segregation," was submitted to the 部隊d 明言する／公表するs 最高裁判所 as an important piece of 証拠 in the 合法的な 事例／患者 that led to the 1954 判決，裁定 that 宣言するd racial segregation in schools to be 憲法違反の.
Where Dr. Wertham made his 指名する was as a 協議するing psychiatrist for the 法廷，裁判所 system. The psychiatric clinic he directed for the New York City 法廷，裁判所 was probably the first clinic in the 部隊d 明言する／公表するs in which all 罪人／有罪を宣告するd felons received a psychiatric examination. His 推薦s led to the 近代化 of 施設s and methodology at many mental and 犯罪の 持つ／拘留するing 会・原則s.
Dr. Wertham was also an author. His first 調書をとる／予約する was The Brain as an 組織／臓器  (1934), a straightforward 科学の work. Dark Legend,  however, was a psychological 事例／患者 history of a 17-year-old boy who 殺人d his mother, written for a more general audience and with literary allusions. The reviews were mostly 都合のよい, though an MD referred to "slips and inconsistencies which definitely 損なう the 調書をとる／予約する as a 科学の 熟考する／考慮する." 批評s of sloppy 令状ing would dog every 調書をとる／予約する Wertham wrote. His 1949 調書をとる／予約する, Show of 暴力／激しさ,  is a general 熟考する／考慮する of 殺人 in which he discusses some of the major 殺人 事例／患者s he was 伴う／関わるd with as either a 法廷，裁判所 証言，証人／目撃する or a 顧問.
Parents and educators had been complaining about comic 調書をとる／予約するs for years. As 早期に as December, 1940, when comic 調書をとる／予約するs were still in their 幼少／幼藍期, the 国家の Education 協会 定期刊行物  ran an article discussing "An Antidote to the Comic Magazine 毒（薬）." Dr. Wertham ran into comic 調書をとる／予約するs in the course of his work with juvenile 違反者／犯罪者s, and 公式文書，認めるing that many of the delinquents read them avidly, 結論するd that they were important 環境の factors 主要な the kids to 罪，犯罪 and 暴力／激しさ. He 現在のd his 事例／患者 in an article published in the May 29, 1947 問題／発行する of the Saturday Review of Literature,  and after that he was off and running in his crusade against violent comic 調書をとる／予約するs. Over the next seven years, he would give lectures, 令状 articles, and 証言する as an 専門家 証言，証人／目撃する before 法律を制定する 委員会s 調査／捜査するing the comic-調書をとる／予約する menace, 最高潮に達するing in the 出版（物） of his 調書をとる／予約する Seduction of the Innocent  in 1954.
Latterday American comics fans, who look 支援する at the anti-comics crusade with 恐れる and loathing, and fret nervously over whether it might happen again, tend to ignore the point that comics publishers of the 早期に '50s 事実上 削減（する） their own throats. While Dr. Wertham overstated his 事例／患者 to a いつかs ludicrous degree, he didn't have to: comics really were as 天然のまま, violent, and tasteless as he （人命などを）奪う，主張するd, as any parent or 立法議員 could easily 確認する. With the 戦後の （太陽，月の）食／失墜 of 衣装 heroes, comic 調書をとる／予約するs moved into ますます violent and graphic 罪，犯罪 and horror. Parents and 立法議員s were worried enough about children seeing pictures of endless 殺人s and mutilations and 厳しいd 団体／死体 parts in comics that were anything but fuzzy bunny 調書をとる／予約するs; then a distinguished psychiatrist （機の）カム along and told them 正確に／まさに what they had 嫌疑者，容疑者／疑うd all along - yes, children who read 罪，犯罪 comic 調書をとる／予約するs became 常習的な to 暴力／激しさ, and even 受託するd it as a useful probelm-solving 装置. Comic 調書をとる／予約するs taught children to be cruel, sexually warped, dishonest, and contemptuous of soft virtues like pity or love. Comic 調書をとる／予約するs were still 比較して 穏やかな in 1947 when Dr. Wertham began his crusade, but some publishers lost all 抑制 into the 1950s, running ますます violent and gory stories that only 確認するd everything he said.

Seduction of the Innocent  is a remarkable 調書をとる／予約する. Like most of Dr. Wertham's 出版（物）s, it is short on proof of its 主張s and long on polemics, anecdotes 関係のある without any sources 特記する／引用するd, and literary quotations or allusions crowbarred into the text. Several 世代s of comics fans have had a chance to discover the 調書をとる／予約する and 反応する to it now, and everything you've heard about it is probably true. Dr. Wertham does 告発する／非難する Superman of 存在 a 国粋主義者／ファシスト党員, Batman and コマドリ of 存在 a homosexual fantasy of a man and a boy living together, and Wonder Woman of 存在 just plain kinky (裁判官ing from the 早期に years of that （土地などの）細長い一片, with all the downright astonishing 強調 on bondage and submission, I'd have to say he called that one pretty 井戸／弁護士席). He does make the （人命などを）奪う，主張する that comic-調書をとる／予約する 製図／抽選s 含む／封じ込める "pictures within pictures" for "those who know how to look," his 展示（する） A 存在 the shading of a man's shoulder muscles that 恐らく evoke a woman's naked torso when squinted at 権利. Dr. Wertham does 不正に misinterpret a few stories, 顕著に an 欧州共同体 one in which some 極端に 愛国的な 国民s （警官の）巡回区域，受持ち区域 a man to death for not saluting the 旗, only to discover at the end that he was blind and couldn't see it; Wertham （人命などを）奪う，主張するd that the story 好意d  rough 治療 of insufficiently 愛国的な individuals, somehow 行方不明の the point of a 公正に／かなり heavyhanded story.
Seduction  is in large part a dreary recital of one juvenile 罪，犯罪 after another, juxtaposed with descriptions of horrible examples of the "罪，犯罪 comic 調書をとる／予約するs" that 恐らく led to such 行為. "罪，犯罪 comic 調書をとる／予約する" is Dr. Wertham's 一面に覆う／毛布 称する，呼ぶ／期間／用語 for any  調書をとる／予約する that dealt with the 主題 of good guys and bad guys - superhero, western, science fiction - while modern usage of the 称する，呼ぶ／期間／用語 would 制限する it to just the now-extinct genre of 警官，（賞などを）獲得するs-and-ギャング（個々） comic 調書をとる／予約するs of the pre-Code 時代. To him, just about all comic 調書をとる／予約するs were "罪，犯罪" comic 調書をとる／予約するs.
Dr. Wertham's 固める／コンクリート suggestions for what to do  about comic 調書をとる／予約するs were a little skimpy. Besides 増加するd parental vigilance at home, he seemed to have in mind 合法的に 禁じるing the sale of violent comic 調書をとる／予約するs to minors. In a sense, he can be seen as one of the first proponents of some 肉親，親類d of comic-調書をとる／予約する 率ing system. Although fans later remembered him as the man 責任がある bringing on the Comics Code 当局, he never supported or 是認するd the Code, and had no 約束 in comic-調書をとる／予約する publishers to police their own 階級s.
Excerpts from Seduction of the Innocent  appeared in two of the biggest-selling American magazines of the day, Reader's Digest  and the Ladies' Home 定期刊行物,  where it probably had its 最大限 衝撃 on parents. The 調書をとる／予約する itself appeared to 一般に 都合のよい reviews, though many reviewers thought Wertham had 現在のd his arguments 貧しく, or that while comic 調書をとる／予約するs were as bad as he said, they were too trivial to worry about.

Dr. Wertham （人命などを）奪う，主張するd in 私的な correspondence years later that comic-調書をとる／予約する publishers did everything they could to squelch him and his 調書をとる／予約する, from 雇うing 私立探偵s to tail him in the hope of getting something on him to 発揮するing muscle to kill an important 調書をとる／予約する-club 取引，協定 for Seduction . One thing that is definitely known is that after the 調書をとる／予約する was published, the publisher had second thoughts about the two-page bibliography of comic-調書をとる／予約する publishers at the end, 明らかに 恐れるing 訴訟s, and ordered it かみそり-bladed out of the printed copies. A few 損なわれていない copies slipped through, however, and fans who have seen the biblography say its omissions and mistakes just 証明する that Wertham had little understanding as to who 現実に published what in the '50s comic-調書をとる／予約する 産業.
Besides Wertham's 調書をとる／予約する, comic-調書をとる／予約する publishers were also 直面するd with the U.S. 上院 and New York 明言する／公表する 立法機関 審理，公聴会s on 少年犯罪，少年非行 in 1954. Alarmed, the publishers formed the Comics Magazine 協会 of America, which went into 操作／手術 in 早期に September, and the first 調書をとる／予約するs 耐えるing the Comics Code 調印（する） were appearing on the stands すぐに thereafter. And wouldn't you know it: in 早期に February of 1955, Dr. Wertham was already 証言するing before a New York 明言する／公表する 立法機関 委員会 審理，公聴会 that the comic 調書をとる／予約するs were no better under the Code. As proof, he 展示（する）d a whip and a knife that he had 得るd through 宣伝s in a Code-認可するd 調書をとる／予約する.
Still, whether Dr. Wertham cared to 収容する／認める it or not, there had been some changes. Thanks to the Code's 制限する 支配するs, violent and gory comic 調書をとる／予約するs disappeared from the newsstands. 罪，犯罪 comics and horror comics 大部分は 消えるd. Many publishers left the field, 顕著に 欧州共同体 Comics, which killed its 正規の／正選手 comic-調書をとる／予約する line and concentrated on a humor 肩書を与える called Mad.  The heat was off a かなり shrunken comic-調書をとる／予約する 産業, though the memories and the scars remain to this day.

Swedish Donald Duck magazine number 36, 1961, with a special 公式文書，認める to parents and teachers: "How should a comic 調書をとる／予約する be? It must be funny, exciting, colorful, say the children. And what do parents and teachers think? Nothing unsound or thrilling, but high morals, good humour and first class illustrations [...] Lecturer Per-Anders Westrin, Licentiate of Philosophy, distinguished psychologist and pedagogue, is 責任がある the Swedish 版. The year 1956 saw 出版（物） of another 調書をとる／予約する by Dr. Wertham, Circle of 犯罪 , a 熟考する／考慮する of 少年犯罪，少年非行 that 焦点（を合わせる）d on a 井戸／弁護士席-publicized 殺人 事例／患者. Curiously, Saturday Review,  the magazine where the comic-調書をとる／予約する crusade could be said to have begun nearly a １０年間 before, ran a review that neatly sums up Dr. Wertham's entire professional career 同様に as this particular 調書をとる／予約する:

When he gets off his comic-調書をとる／予約する kick, Dr. Wertham makes some trenchant 発言／述べるs on racial segregation and other social problems, Yet even these points are vitiated by the author's perplexing bent for truculence and bellicosity. Which is a pity, since Dr. Wertham is undoubtably a man with 極度の慎重さを要する social 良心, 深く，強烈に 関心d about the 井戸／弁護士席-存在 of children.

And so we find Dr. Fredric Wertham at the end of his long and 一般に successful career. If he hadn't won a total victory over "罪，犯罪 comic 調書をとる／予約するs," he had certainly helped tame the beast and he could retire with the satisfaction of a 職業 井戸／弁護士席 done. However, 深い within the pages of Seduction of the Innocent,  a 時限爆弾 lay ticking that would go off during what should have been his 静かな 退職 years.
After his 退職, Dr. Wertham 充てるd some of his golden years to 令状ing his magnum opus on the 暴力／激しさ question, A 調印する for Cain.  It was first published in 1966, with a paperback 版 and a new forword appearing in 1968. やめる 簡単に, A 調印する for Cain  is an incredible 調書をとる／予約する. It is abominably written, a rambling collection of descriptions of violent 行為／法令／行動するs, usually without any dates or sources given, amplifed by Wertham's often eccentric commentary and spiced with only barely 関連した literary quotations. The impression left by this dreary tome is that human 存在s can be beastly to one another and Dr. Wertham 嘆き悲しむs the fact. He also 非難するs 暴力／激しさ almost 完全に on 環境, and it's （疑いを）晴らす that Wertham 手配中の，お尋ね者 to 粛清する the 集まり マスコミ of 暴力／激しさ, starting with comic 調書をとる／予約するs, which come under 激しい attack in the 調書をとる／予約する even though they were a ごくわずかの factor by the 中央の-'60s, and proceed to movies and TV.
心配するing that he might be （刑事）被告 of 好意ing 検閲, Dr. Wertham wrote that he 拒絶するs the （人命などを）奪う，主張する "that critique of 集まり-マスコミ 暴力／激しさ may lead to 検閲 and 干渉する with civil liberties. Social 支配（する）／統制する for the 保護 of children has nothing to do with 検閲 for adults. Children have the 権利 to grow up healthy and uncorrupted. The 戦う／戦い for civil liberties should not be fought on the 支援するs of children. Those who fight for freedom of 表現 would be in a stronger position if they 譲歩するd that outspoken sadism should be withheld from children."
When comic 調書をとる／予約するs come up for discussion in A 調印する for Cain,  Dr. Wertham seems almost otherworldly. Even in the 中央の-'60s, that line about old comic 調書をとる／予約するs 存在 around in large numbers at "減ずるd prices" was a joke for anyone familiar with the field. The （人命などを）奪う，主張する that the readers of old comics were turning up as the parents of 乱打するd children - 現在のd without proof or sources - is beyond astonishing. He also 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金d that "the 集まり-マスコミ Superman is the symbol of 力／強力にする, 軍隊, and 暴力／激しさ," and compared Supes with 物陰／風下 Harvey Oswald - during an 時代 when the comic-調書をとる／予約する Superman was at its most endearingly silly and absurd.
He summed up comic 調書をとる／予約するs with a grudging 譲歩:

It is true that straight 罪，犯罪 肩書を与えるs  (not stories) have 減少（する）d and are not 陳列する，発揮するd on the cover any more. (One is tempted to say they have gone undercover.) And 殺人 stories in 現実主義の 都市の settings have become いっそう少なく たびたび（訪れる）. Now the setting is more apt to be science fictional, with superman and superwoman types and interplanetary, outer-space, superhuman creatures. The 動機s are the same: 復讐, money, lust for 力／強力にする, 破壊. Westerns have changed least, and are as 残虐な as ever. Girls' necklines have been raised, but sadistic women in tight-fitting 衣料品s abound, as hateful and destructive as ever. 罪，犯罪 and 暴力／激しさ still 統治する 最高の, though often in disguise.

"Comic 調書をとる／予約するs," Dr. Wertham said, "are cheap, shoddy, 匿名の／不明の. Children spend their good money for bad paper, bad English, and more often than not, bad 製図／抽選."

That was thirty years ago. A 調印する for Cain  is out of print and forgotten today. When Dr. Wertham died in 1981, his New York Times  obituary 強調するd his work as a 法廷，裁判所 psychiatrist and his 対立 to racial segregation, and について言及するd that he was "credited...with 原因（となる）ing the comic 調書をとる／予約する 産業 to 軟化する its 強調 on horror and 罪，犯罪." But any 影響（力） his ideas may have had on the course of events was long gone - even A 調印する for Cain  is 明確に the work of a man no longer やめる in touch with things - and he died in obscurity.
In the end, only the comics fans remembered him.
In 1969, I was a 17-year-old high-school student. I had been in comics fandom for a couple of years, and was making 計画（する）s to publish my own fanzine. In those days, amateur 出版（物）s were how comics fans communicated with each other, に引き続いて the lead of fans in the older science-fiction fandom. 厳密に speaking, the 目的 of comics fanzines was to 交流 （警察などへの）密告，告訴（状）, with articles 述べるing old comics, checklists showing 問題／発行するs and character 外見s, interviews with creators - getting into print everything possible about a 支店 of publishing and/or art that had been neglected up to then, and collecting （警察などへの）密告，告訴（状） so it could be 保存するd. For those of us who didn't have the collections or the scholarly 利益／興味 to do that 肉親，親類d of work, fanzines incidentally and almost accidentally turned into a 乗り物 for personal 表現.
Comics fans in the '60s and 早期に '70s hated  Dr. Wertham. They 非難するd him for 殺人，大当り 欧州共同体 and the 会・原則 of the Comics Code, and for 主要な a 全国的な witchhunt against a defenseless artform. (His 見解（をとる） was that he was trying to 保護する children from rapacious big-商売／仕事 利益／興味s.) In fan 出版（物）s, Dr. Wertham had become an all but 伝説の 存在 in his own 権利. He was the symbol of parental or social 当局, the archetype of every parent or teacher who had ever tried to take your comic 調書をとる／予約するs away from you for your own good. He had disappeared from the scene in the 中央の-'50s, but 15 years later comics fans were still throwing mud at his memory.
As I had been 令状ing for other people's fanzines for some two years, I decided to go the whole 大勝する and publish one of my own. While I was calling in old 好意s to get people to 令状 for me, inspiration struck.
Earlier, I had looked for 調書をとる／予約するs about comics in the public library and turned up Seduction of the Innocent.  Between that and fanzine articles lamenting the passing of 欧州共同体 Comics, I knew who Dr. Wertham was and what a ruckus he had 原因（となる）d some 15 years before. Out of curiosity, I checked the 現在の Who's Who  and discovered that he was still alive, with an 演説（する）／住所 I could 令状 to him at. Wouldn't it be a クーデター, I thought, if I could interview the terrible, the 伝説の Dr. Wertham for my fanzine?
Filled with the brashness of 青年, I sent him a few 見本 copies of fanzines along with a 公正に／かなり 非常に長い letter 述べるing fandom and what it was all about, and asking him a number of questions about さまざまな 声明s he had made in Seduction  and whether he still agreed with them.
Somewhat to my surprise, Dr. Wertham wrote 支援する. While not 答える／応じるing 直接／まっすぐに to my questions, he made a number of points he thought were important:

My main 利益／興味 is not in comic 調書をとる／予約するs or even 集まり マスコミ, but in children and young people. Over the years I have been director of large mental hygiene clinics... And I have done a 広大な／多数の／重要な 取引，協定 of work - いつかs with 広大な／多数の／重要な difficulty - to 妨げる young people from 存在 sent to 少年院s where they are often very 不正に 扱う／治療するd. I have also helped a number of young people so they were not sent to the 電気椅子.
Seeing that so many immature people have troubles and get into trouble, I tried to find out all the sources that 与える／捧げるd to their difficulties. In the course of that work I （機の）カム across 罪，犯罪 comic 調書をとる／予約するs.
I had nothing whatever to do 直接／まっすぐに with the comics code. Nor have I ever 是認するd it. Nor do I believe in it. My 科学の findings had something to do with it only because the 罪，犯罪 comic 調書をとる／予約する publishers, some of them multi-millionaires, were afraid 法律s or 法令s would be passed against their worst 生産／産物s. To guard against that the code was 設立するd.
Controlling the 超過 of brutality in 罪，犯罪 comic 調書をとる／予約するs has nothing to do with 検閲. 保護するing children is not 検閲. I was the first American psychiatrist 認める in a 連邦の 法廷，裁判所 in a 調書をとる／予約する 検閲 事例／患者 - and I 証言するd against  検閲.

Dr. Wertham then 表明するd curiosity about fanzines and fandom. I wrote 支援する answering his questions - and the next thing I knew, I was 審理，公聴会 that he was 令状ing to fanzine publishers and requesting copies of their 出版（物）s. Dr. Wertham's letters even began appearing in fanzine letter columns, often politely 正当化するing his 見解（をとる）s on 暴力／激しさ and the マスコミ to 冷淡な fan editors, often just 参加するing in the conversation and commenting amiably about 関係のない 事柄s brought up in a previous 問題／発行する. In his own way, he was getting 伴う／関わるd in fandom. Still, there was always an element of 疑惑 and 不信 on the part of comics fans. No one was やめる sure what he was really after. Some people, 恐れるing a Seduction -style hatchet 職業 on fandom, きっぱりと 辞退するd to send him their fanzines; others did so reluctantly.
What Dr. Wertham was up to turned out to be his last 調書をとる／予約する, published by Southern Illinois University 圧力（をかける） in 1974: The World of Fanzines: A Special Form of Communication. It wasn't a hatchet 職業 at all. やめる the opposite: it was a love letter to comics fandom. This was the man who had 爆破d comic 調書をとる／予約するs in Seduction of the Innocent  and A 調印する for Cain,  告発する／非難するing them of every sin he could think of, 含むing making their readers into moral monsters - now Dr. Wertham was 賞賛するing the 成果／努力s of comic-調書をとる／予約する readers, and 現在のing our 内部の hobby 出版（物）s as the very model of 非，不，無-violent communication by 有望な young people.
It was also a very strange 調書をとる／予約する, with wide 利ざやs and scant text. One whole 一時期／支部 was nothing but a one-column 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる） of fanzine 肩書を与えるs and the places they were published. One reviewer called the 調書をとる／予約する "repetitious, belaboring the obvious, and 貧しく 組織するd." Reading it, one gets the impression of a man very much out of touch with the world, and making a 広大な／多数の／重要な 取引，協定 out of very little. His choices of artwork for reproductions in the 調書をとる／予約する seem 限られた／立憲的な to what he had on 手渡す in his drawer rather than to any systematic 目的. More to the point, Dr. Wertham had 完全に misunderstood the nature and 目的 of comics fandom. 明らかに, after spending so many years as a practicing psychiatrist working with the New York City 刑事裁判所 system, seeing a never-ending stream of violent psychopaths and 乱すd juveniles, he was evidently charmed when he tripped across a little subculture of young people spontaneously communicating 平和的に の中で themselves without adult 監督 or 激励.

Dr. Wertham's account in the introductory 一時期／支部 of how he got 伴う／関わるd with fanzines is 利益／興味ing, as he doesn't について言及する Seduction of the Innocent  or his anti-comic 調書をとる／予約する work in the '50s. The unknowing reader is left with the impression that Wertham is 簡単に a public 人物／姿／数字 known for his "writings or 会談 on such 支配するs as 集まり マスコミ, 青年 problems, or 暴力／激しさ," and fanzine editors sent him their 出版（物）s just to communicate pleasantly with the nice gentleman in 返答. Wertham gives no hint of his personal position in the world of fanzines as a 近づく-伝説の bogeyman, regarded by many of their editors and contributors as incarnate evil walking the earth.
He seemed to only reluctantly 認める comic 調書をとる／予約するs and science fiction as the source of fanzines and fandom, and gave a couple of the most skewed 要約する／（宇宙ロケットの）カプセル histories of the genres I've ever seen, concentrating on their anti-war and 非，不，無-violent 面s. In discussing the comics fanzines' 強調 on superheroes, he 申し込む／申し出d the 発言／述べる that "the creative imagination of fanzine writers and artists, 特に the younger ones, tends in the direction of heroes, maybe in that lies a message for our unheroic age." This is more than a little remarkable coming from the man who in Seduction  分類するd superheroes as a bizarre variant of "罪，犯罪 comics" and thought Superman in particular was a 国粋主義者／ファシスト党員 avatar. Mostly, he glosses over the comic-調書をとる／予約する 関係 of comics fandom, 扱う／治療するing it puzzledly or condescendingly when he can't 避ける it, and seems to proceed on the 前提 that fandom just spontaneously 組織するd itself as a communications 乗り物 for 十代の少年少女s, with comic 調書をとる／予約するs only an incidental, even 偶発の 面 of it all. As usual, Dr. Wertham concentrates on 暴力／激しさ and is delighted to 報告（する）／憶測 that there isn't any in the world of fanzines.
The World of Fanzines  is a masterpiece of scholarship gone off the 跡をつける. It's the only 調書をとる／予約する you'll find about its 支配する in most libraries even though the author never やめる understood what he was 令状ing about. He never said as much - he couldn't 収容する／認める it for the sake of professional pride, perhaps - but The World of Fanzines  否定するs everything Dr. Wertham wrote about comic 調書をとる／予約するs and their readers in his previous 調書をとる／予約するs.
In the end, he decided, we'd turned out pretty much all 権利.
